NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at the Glen Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions

Will Anybody Stop Harvick?

You might think a 46-year-old like Kevin Harvick might lose some steam as the 2022 NASCAR regular season winds down, but it’s been the opposite as he’s won the last two Cup series events. Harvick has come from nowhere to vault himself into the top 10 in the points standings, and he’s finished in the top 10 in his last two at Watkins Glen. This is a historic race where seven different countries are represented in the field, providing a lot of options for NASCAR odds this weekend.

Let’s check the latest NASCAR news, stats, reports, and NASCAR odds for the NASCAR Cup. We’ve plenty of NASCAR picks and predictions for you to consider.

Points Over Wins?

It’s been a wild NASCAR season where 15 different drivers have won races to qualify for the playoffs automatically. While that may be exhilarating on a week-in and week-out basis, especially for bettors who can get some value down in the odds sheet, it also doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room for the rest of the field to get into the playoffs.

One scenario that may play out on Sunday in NASCAR betting is Ryan Blaney (+1400) and Martin Truex, Jr. (+1600) not necessarily going for the win but just to beat each other. They are second and fourth in the points standings, but since they have yet to get a win one of them is going to be on the outside. Then again, if a driver in the field gets his first win of 2022, then they both are eliminated so it’s best to stay near the front.

On the flip side, those who have already qualified for the playoffs can really go for it on Sunday, somebody like, for example, Harvick, who is +3000 when you bet online.

Best Bet at Watkins Glen

Since Watkins Glen is a road course you can almost eliminate any Joe Gibbs racer from your betting sheet. No JGR car cracked the top 25 at Sonoma in June and couldn’t get in the top 12 at Road America. That doesn’t bode well for Truex as he tries to get into a playoff, and it’s why you see the likes of Kyle Busch at +2500 and Denny Hamlin at +2800

With JGR cars eliminated, the easiest big favorite for NASCAR betting at Watkins Glen is Chase Elliott, who is listed at a whopping +550 on the Las Vegas odds. In 23 career road races, Elliott has seven wins and has been in the top five 13 times. He’s also won at Watkins Glen in 2018 and 2019 and finished runner-up here last season. Kyle Larson (+900) won the 2021 event here.

It should be noted Joe Gibbs Racing cars occupied four of the top seven spots in the 2021 race so they are not to be counted out completely.

NASCAR Cup Go Bowling at the Glen Prediction

It’s hard not to absolutely love Chase Elliott in this spot as he’s finished either first or second in three straight years. That’s the easy play, though, and Truex, Jr. despite being a Joe Gibbs Racing driver on a road course has value here. Truex, Jr. knows he has to beat Blaney for the last playoff spot, but at the same time, neither of us can let somebody who hasn’t yet won in 2022 take this checkered flag. Truex, Jr. led 34 laps here last season and is ready to punch his ticket to the playoffs.
