Back to Atlanta
It’s a plate racing weekend ahead of us and arguably the most exciting part of the year, especially for those looking to hit that longshot winner at the offered NASCAR odds for this weekend.
But obviously, you can’t blindly bet on every outsider and hope something sticks, so here is our betting preview for Sunday’s Quaker State 400, with top betting online picks you might want to trail.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, reports, and NASCAR odds for Quaker State 400. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.
No Clear Favorite
As a plate race, the 2022 Quaker State 400 is an event you don’t know what to expect, and if the past has taught us anything, only two things are for certain – we will highly likely see an upset, and there will be at least a couple of crashes.
Still, while there are no clear favorites, a couple of drivers stand out as the current frontrunners on the NASCAR Cup Series outright betting markets. Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson are all priced at sharp odds, and we don’t expect the figures to change by much before the race starts.
All are more than capable of winning, but neither is guaranteed to finish the race nor is there a single driver you could favor over the other. This also makes betting on any of the five favorites far less appealing, especially since we’re getting generous offers on many capable drivers who the bookies consider to be outsiders.
Which Drivers Can Surprise?
It’s not easy picking a winner for the Quaker State 400, and it never was, but at the available Las Vegas odds, a couple caught our attention.
Kyle Busch is one of the outsiders to win the 2022 Quaker State 400, and that might sound fair, but he is not someone you would want to bet against. Admittedly, he is currently in a terrible spot with a 30th, 21st, and 29th-place finish across his last three outings, but he hasn’t looked that bad before the dry streak.
He won in Bristol and has 11 top-10 with six top-5s to his name. Moreover, he won the race in 2008 and was second in this race last year, behind Kurt Busch. The only reason why Kyle Busch isn’t one of the favorites is his iffy showings across the last three – including 12th last weekend, but as noted, the 2022 Quaker State 400 is not the same as any other race on the season.
It’s also worth noting that Busch has been struggling on road courses this season, but he has shown some improvement in Nashville.
“We struggled at COTA as well to be honest with raw speed and being able to be good there,” said Busch after the race.
“So we weren’t great at COTA either, but we were able to get through some of the restarts and get positions on guys to get ourselves up front.”
Another name that stands out is Alex Bowman, who heads to Atlanta as the current no.9 on the NASCAR Cup Series standings. He has one win to his name (Las Vegas) and nine top-10s, which might not seem too impressive, but there’s more to consider.
Bowman was fourth here last year despite starting the race in 17th. Moreover, he placed third in Atlanta earlier that season and was phenomenal in the Folds of Honor QuickTrip 500 earlier this year.
And if that is not enough, his team, Hendrick Motorsports, has won ten of 20 races this season, so it’s fair to say that he has the tools to compete for the W this weekend.

Quaker State 400 Prediction
There are only two drivers we’re interested in betting on for the Quaker State 400, and it’s not easy to pick a side. Kyle Busch needs to bounce back from his streak of three back-to-back iffy performances, and he has proven before that he can do just that on the Atlanta track.
Meanwhile, Alex Bowman is underrated by the online sports betting sites, and there is no real reason to have him priced at such generous odds.
You can’t go wrong picking either of the two drivers, but in the spirit of the race that awards the bravest bettors, we’ll side with Bowman to cook up an upset and claim his second W of the season.
