Elliott on Sensational Roll

Elliott heads to the Verizon 200 as the leading favorite, priced at +350 in online betting. Although it is a surprisingly high price, there are a couple reasons for it.

Elliott is the current NASCAR Cup Series leader with four victories under his belt. Moreover, he has won three of his last five starts (Nashville, Atlanta and Pocono) and placed second in the remaining two (Road America and New Hampshire).

His performances since late June have been near-perfect, and it’s tough to recall the last time a NASCAR Cup Series driver was as dominant as Elliott.

Besides his superb form, Elliott is also an exceptional road course driver, which is just another big reason why anyone betting online should consider Elliott for the upcoming race.

Larson, Chastain in Mix

Ross Chastain and Kyle Larson head to the Verizon 200 as the second and third favorites to win the race, albeit they’re still priced well behind Elliott. Regardless of what the odds show, there is a reason to believe either of the two can steal the spotlight.

Chastain has been one of the most consistent drivers of the season, and while he hasn’t achieved as much as Elliott, he has also had fewer disappointing performances. He is the only driver with double-digit top-fives and has already won two races.

Notably, he had a disappointing performance last weekend with a 32nd-place finish at Pocono, but that was also his only fifth finish outside of the top-19. It’s also worth noting that Chastain is an excellent driver on road courses, as shown in his win at COTA.

Larson placed fifth at Pocono, which put him back within spitting distance of a win. Now he has a chance to improve upon that showing and turn in another strong result at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he placed third in 2021.

However, some might not consider him an appealing pick, given Larson’s lack of success this season. His only win was in February.

2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard Prediction

We wouldn’t be surprised if Chastain or Larson wins the race, but even though we shouldn’t underestimate either of the two, it’s tough to fade Elliott. He is by far in the best form out of all Cup Series drivers and, until proven otherwise, he is the man to beat.

Admittedly, he was always a threat to win any race this season, but that became far more obvious over the last month, having placed first or second in five consecutive races. Now Elliott heads back to the track where he placed fourth last year, which only adds to his value as a solid pick.
