Round of Eight Begins at Bristol
Playoff Racing is just Different
Last weekend’s Kansas Lottery 200 was an elimination race and drivers were letting it all hang out. It was looking like Carson Hocevar was going to capture the checkered flag with +1500 odds, but a late rally by John Hunter Nemechek on the final lap gave him the victory.
The win sent Nemechek to the round of eight while Hocevar and Matt Crafton had their playoff hopes ended via elimination. It makes you wonder what the NASCAR odds this week have in store for Bristol.

Round of Eight Begins
There can be some quirky scheduling on the Truck Series, and that’s no different when right in the heart of the playoffs. After this race, the circuit takes the next two weekends off before returning to Talladega on Oct. 1.
Thursday’s UNOH 200 from Bristol is the first of three races in the Round of Eight. It will be followed by the race at Talladega before concluding at Homestead way down the line on Oct. 22.
Four drivers are eliminated after Homestead set up the Championship Four, which right now would consist of Zane Smith, Chandler Smith, Nemechek, and Ben Rhodes.
That means the other drivers in the round of eight – Stewart Friesen, Ty Majeski, Grant Enfinger, and Christian Eckes – have every incentive to go for broke these next three races.
Smith to Repeat?
One of the best drivers to bet online for the UNOH 200 is Smith, the Kyle Busch Motorsports driver who is the defending champion of this race.
Smith picked up his first-ever Truck Series victory at this track last season, but he didn’t necessarily have the best vehicle, leading just five laps.
Sheldon Creed has some value this weekend after dominating here in 2021, leading 189 laps before experiencing mechanical issues on the final restart. Creed dropped all the way down to 19th, with Enfinger and Nemechek capturing second and third, respectively.
The top three finishers at last season’s UNOH 200 have, ironically, won the last three Truck Series races this season.
Nemechek has been in the top three in three of his last four races, Smith has won two of the last four and Enfinger has been in the top five in three straight, so it looks like the winner is coming out of that bunch.

NASCAR Trucks UNOH 200 Prediction
It wouldn’t be a shock at all if Smith or Nemechek won this race given the way they’ve run lately, but it’s Enfinger that has put together some strong performances lately. He could be the dark-horse winner with a little better Las Vegas odds too. Enfinger had the runner-up finish here last season and also placed sixth in 2020.
Enfinger also needs to run hard in these next three races to avoid elimination. Despite three straight top-five finishes, he sits in seventh place in the playoff standings.
Enfinger needs to start capturing some checkered flags to move up the ladder, but somebody like Smith or Nemechek might not run that aggressively toward the end as they just try to collect enough points to get themselves safely into the Championship Four.
