NASCAR Xfinity United Rentals 200 Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions

All eyes on Ty Gibbs ahead of United Rentals 200

United Rentals Is On The Menu For NASCAR Xfinity

The 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to the Phoenix Raceway for the 2022 United Rentals 200, marking the fourth race of the season and the second event of this weekend. The NASCAR betting odds for this weekend are not yet out, but that won’t stop us from looking into the upcoming race and providing you with the answer to which driver you should bet now and which drivers we don’t expect will deliver.

United Rentals 200 Information

The 2022 United Rentals will mark the fourth race of the season and the 18th iteration of the event. It will be contested on the permanent tri-oval 1-mile Phoenix Raceway track, over 200 laps as the second event of the weekend.

The 2022 United Rentals is scheduled for Saturday, March 12, after Friday’s General Tire 150 and leading into the NASCAR Cup Series Ruoff Mortgage 500 on Sunday, March 13.

Ty Gibbs Favoured To Deliver

Ty Gibbs heads to Phoenix as the favorite to win and is priced as the main betting favorite on all online sports betting sites. That’s hardly surprising, knowing that Gibbs was considered one of the main candidates to win the Xfinity trophy even before the season began, and he has already proven his worth by winning last weekend’s race.

But the Las Vegas race did not end without controversy as Gibbs had a run-in with Ryan Sieg, who ended up getting the worst of it and had to retire after completing just 25 laps. In contrast, Gibbs went all the way and won his first race of the 2022 season.

“So he’s got the best car out here, way out from everybody. Just not smart on his part,” Sieg about Gibbs.

Gibbs was fast and very impressive last weekend. But his recklessness should make you doubt Gibbs’ consistency and his ability to produce solid results week in and week out.

Consistency Is The Key

If we talk consistency, it’s hard to look past Noah Gragson. We sided with the 23-year-old to win the Las Vegas race, and while he couldn’t deliver on the day, Gragson still placed second, which is a respectable finish.

It marked his second consecutive runner-up finish after the California race, and his third podium of the season, with a bronze medal from Daytona. So even though Gragson has yet to win a race in 2022, he has not placed outside of the top three once, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Gragson has six starts in Phoenix, but only one top-5, three top-10s, and five top-20s, without a single win. That’s better than how it may seem, seeing how he has a 39 and 12 place finish here in 2021 and a seventh and runner-up finish from 2020.

Moreover, Gragson is in exceptional form, and if he can keep the wind in his sails, it’s only a matter of time before he collects his first W of the season.

2022 United Rentals Prediction

It’s hard to make a case against Ty Gibbs, who is again priced as the main favorite to win the next race, but we weren’t too impressed with what he showed last weekend. He won the race, but he came very close to crashing out of the race, so there is more to his performance than just the final outcome.

Moreover, Gibbs has very limited experience on this track, where he has appeared only once. Admittedly, he ended up finishing his Phoenix debut in second, but that doesn’t guarantee him success on Saturday.
Gibbs might be worth a bet if he ends up performing poorly in the qualifiers and starts the race from the back. He has a very fast car and is crazy enough to go all-or-nothing, which could see him claw his way back to the front of the field. He did exactly that the last time he drove here when he started the race from 27 and still ended the race as runner-up.

But without knowing how the qualifiers will go, Gragson is the driver we’re most excited about. He already has three podiums; now it’s time for Gragson to take one step further and collect his first W of the season!
