Cook Out Southern 500 Betting Preview
From Darlington Raceway, the Cook Out Southern 500 will get going Sunday night. South Carolina is the home of the big race that is 500 miles or so and sees nearly 370 laps.
This is the race that has taken place over Labor Day weekend for 65 of the last 77 years. It took a break from 2003-15 but has been running consistently since.

This race will be the start of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. Let’s take a look at who has the best chance of winning this race at the oldest superspeedway in the USA.
Kevin Harvick +250
The hottest drive on the planet has won seven races this season and been within the Top 10 17 times. Harvick won recently at Dover.
Last weekend was not a great one for him, as he started first but finished 20th. That should not phase Harvick, as he has always been great at bouncing back and knows a lot is on the line. Harvick is the slight favorite over Denny Hamlin in our Cook Out Southern 500 Betting Preview. Hamlin is listed at +275.
Hamlin +275
One of the great Joe Gibbs Racing team members finished third last week. It was his fourth top-five finish in the last five races.
This season, Hamlin has come away with six wins and 15 trips inside the Top 10. Hamlin, listed at +275, is second in the current Cup standings and is second in betting odds this weekend.
Brad Keselowski +900
This is a guy many are looking forward to watching and will be popular when betting. Last weekend, Keselowski finished 10th after starting the race fourth.
He has struggled of late, with just Top 10 finishes in his last five races. The Discount Tire No. 2 Car will need to improve at Darlington. Keselowski is pretty decent odds at +900.
Kyle Busch +1100
This is a car that is always fun to watch. And, if you are hungry, you will love his Snickers car. Kyle Busch is seeking his first win of the 2020 season. Darlington is a track at which Busch can fare well. He has 11 top-five finishes this season and been inside the Top 10 13 times.
Joey Logano +1500
The Team Penske No. 22 car is not one of the top five favorites. Logano is often slept on but continues to be elite.
Last weekend, Logano started third and finished 27th. Not good, so look to added fuel to his fire. Logano has two wins and finished inside the top five six times. Logano at +1500 is a pretty good sleeper pick.
Ryan Blaney +1500
A member of Team Penske, Blaney, who drives the No. 12 Ford car, will look to top his sixth-place finish of a weekend ago. It was his second Top 10 finish in a row and 11th on the season. He has one win but has always been a guy that can stay up front when he gets there. Blaney is listed at +1500 betting odds!
That’s a wrap for our Cook Out Southern 500 Betting Preview. Best of luck with all of your betting for this event and all the NASCAR events to finish the season. We are looking forward to getting the playoff going, and Darlington is a great place to kick it off. We hope you enjoy the race, win some money, and have a great holiday weekend!
