Viva Mexico 250 Prediction, Picks and NASCAR Prop Bets, 6/15: Ride Allmendinger (+1100)

Viva México! For the first in Series history, the NASCAR Cup Series heads south of the border for the Viva Mexico 250 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. Shane van Gisbergen, NASCAR’s international superstar, is the NASCAR odds favorite to win at +300.

Making NASCAR picks with no sample size is incredibly difficult, but I’ll do my best to produce some value bets for this historic week.

Top 3 Picks for the Viva Mexico 250

1. Bet Allmendinger (+1100) to Prevail

Since we have no races in Mexico to help make our NASCAR predictions, it’s only natural to pivot to other road courses. The last time the series went to a new road/street course, SVG shocked the field in his debut when he won on the streets of Chicago. While that is his only win, he’s been rock solid on road courses with four top-10s in five starts.

While drivers known as road ringers have good odds like Christopher Bell and William Byron, I will look to AJ Allmendinger. He crashed out at COTA in March but had been stellar at road courses to that point.

Allmendinger had five top-sixes in his last six starts. And the Kaulig Racing team stealing a win wouldn’t be a complete spoiler, as they have been surprisingly competitive this year. I think they have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with SVG.

Bet This Pick: AJ Allmendinger +1100 to win the Viva Mexico 250

2. Hocevar to Win Group C

The BetUS Sportsbook has a plethora of options this week, so let’s look at my favorite group picks for the week. With Allmendinger being my winning pick, placing a wager on him to win group B at +350 NASCAR betting odds is obvious, but let’s look elsewhere. Group C, in particular, fascinates me.

Ty Gibbs was fantastic on road courses in the Xfinity Series, but has consistently found trouble in Cup racing. Daniel Suarez has shown the ability to run up front but has not had a top-10 since Indy in 2023.

I will actually go with Carson Hocevar over Kyle Busch. Hocevar has shown great speed this year but can’t get the job done. He has actually been solid at road courses, finishing 13th or better in the last three, so include him in your NASCAR best bets.

Bet This Pick: Carson Hocevar +300 to Win Group C

3. Buescher, Gilliland Top-10 Values

Even though he isn’t a great value, Chris Buescher has been dynamite at road courses, with a whopping 14 top-10s in his last 17 starts. The sportsbooks have caught on, giving him -150 NASCAR odds to do it again, but I am still comfortable with this despite the lack of value.

For more of a value for those who bet on NASCAR, I like a low-stakes wager on Todd Gilliland at +600. He was 10th at COTA and won multiple road courses in the Truck Series. Front Row looked good at COTA and perhaps they can keep it up this weekend.

Bet These Top-10 Picks: Chris Buescher -175; Todd Gilliland +600
