Can Custer Win Three in Four Years?
Stewart-Haas Racing-Ford’s Cole Custer is the online sports betting favorite for a very good reason: Custer has a successful history at Fontana.
Custer might have only participated in five Xfinity Series races last season, but the Production Alliance 300 was one of those races and his 2022 Xfinity Series debut. Custer qualified second behind A.J. Allmendinger, missing the pole position by 0.008 seconds. After finishing second in stage 1, Custer won the second stage and led every lap of Stage 3 to win.
However, this was not Custer’s first taste of success at Fontana. He won the 2019 iteration of this race, where he qualified third and in the top four in the first two stages, on his way to finishing second in the Xfinity Series Drivers’ Championship.
Custer is the justified betting favorite and could win his third Production Alliance 300 in four years after finishing ninth at the Daytona 300.
Hill’s Strong Start to Continue?
Richard Childress Racing-Chevrolet’s Austin Hill is having a dream start to the season and will want a repeat performance at Fontana.
Hill won the pole position and the first stage of the Daytona 300, finishing third in Stage 2 before leading Stage 3 for 39 laps and parking his Chevrolet ride on Victory Lane. Hill’s second consecutive Daytona 300 win gave him the early lead in the Drivers’ Championship after finishing sixth in the standings last season.
However, Hill will not want to repeat his performance from last season’s Production Alliance 300, where he finished 27th, despite qualifying eighth. Hill’s performance at Fontana last season has to be factored into his longer odds this weekend.
NASCAR Xfinity Series Production Alliance Group 300 Recent Results

NASCAR Xfinity Series Production Alliance Group 300 Picks and Prediction
NASCAR is among the most difficult sports to predict. Rather than make one selection, we will highlight a few of our favorites and a couple of drivers to fade.
Cole Custer is the favorite to win on the NASCAR odds for this weekend, listed at +400, and has to be among your potential picks to win the race outright or finish in the top five. Custer is great at Fontana and has a real shot at winning a third race in four years.
Tyler Reddick (+550) and Ross Chastain (+900) are both listed to participate in the race but will have more miles on track leading into it than the rest of the grid, making us fade them with concerns about fatigue.
We really like Austin Hill at +1600, while we think Joe Gibbs Racing-Toyota’s John Hunter Nemechek could score the win at Fontana with +700 odds.
