The Colorado Avalanche delivered a sweep of the St. Louis Blues this past weekend and NHL betting fans will be treated to another this Monday. The Winnipeg Jets have come out in full force against the Edmonton Oilers and are now up 3-0, ready to finish the sweep. But before we get into why the Jets will go 4-0, let’s find out why the Athletics will be covering Monday’s run line against the struggling Seattle Mariners.

The Oakland Athletics are looking to build on their lead atop the AL West. Fortunately for Oakland, they get to face off against the second-worst team in the division this Monday. Not only that, the Seattle Mariners enter this AL West rivalry sporting a six-game losing streak and are 3-11 in their last 14 overall. The Athletics are 2-1 in their last three, 4-3 in their last 7 and are eager to face off against Seattle for the first time this season.
To pick up a win over their divisional rivals, Oakland will be starting RHP Frankie Montas. Montas enters with a 5-3 record, a 4.79 ERA, and a 1.40 WHIP. He’ll be going up against Yusei Kikuchi who is 1-3 on the season despite sporting similar numbers (4.32 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP). While the pitchers may be evenly matched, these two teams as a whole aren’t The Mariners’ have the worst batting average in Major League Baseball, the worst on-base percentage, and rank 28th in slugging. Surprisingly enough, they’ve somehow managed to rank 24th in runs despite being last almost everywhere else. The Athletics’ batting is middle of the pack as they rank 16th in runs and on-base percentage as well. This should be more than enough to cover Monday’s run line against the pitiful Mariners.
MLB Pick: Athletics 6, Mariners 2

The Winnipeg Jets have found themselves on this list after coming up big in Friday’s multi-sport parlay. Not just Friday, but in the entire series against Edmonton, building up a surprising 3-0 lead ahead of Monday’s game. The real hero so far has been Connor Hellebuyck, who made 24 saves in Game 1, 34 in Game 2, and a masterful 38 in Game 3’s shutout. Although he gave up four in their most recent outing, Hellebuyck also made a whopping 44 save on the night. Ultimately Winnipeg came together as a team and was able to pick up the overtime win off of Nikolaj Ehlers game-winner.
From what we’ve seen, it’s clear this series belongs to Winnipeg. Game 4 was the closest Edmonton’s come to beating the Jets in this series. It took everything the Oilers had to take Winnipeg into overtime, and they still failed to get the job done. Now, physically and mentally exhausted, Edmonton should be easy pickings for a Winnipeg team finishing out the series at home.
NHL Pick: Jets 4, Oilers 0
