Mitchell Will Snap Memphis’ Postseason Streak
The Memphis Grizzlies have clawed their way into a first-round playoff series against the Western Conference’s top seed. On top of that, Memphis even managed to upset the top dogs of the West in Game 1 by beating the Utah Jazz. But with Donovan Mitchell making his return this Wednesday, barring any meddling from Utah’s management, the Grizzlies are headed toward their first loss of the postseason. Couple that with the Vegas Golden Knights poised to eliminate the Minnesota Wild in Game 6 and you have yourself a lucrative two-team parlay for Wednesday’s playoff action.
Grizzlies vs Jazz (Wednesday)
When: 10 p.m. ET
Where: Vivint Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah
NBA Odds: Memphis Grizzlies +370 || Utah Jazz -470
The Memphis Grizzlies upset the Utah Jazz in Game 1 of the series. Dillon Brooks led the Grizzlies in scoring as he dished out 31 points as well as seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Second in scoring for Memphis was Ja Morant, who finished with 26 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Despite these impressive performances, the NBA odds are fully expecting Utah to bounce back in Game 2.
The big story here is, of course, All-Star Donovan Mitchell, who is now upset with the Jazz for sitting him out of Game 1. Heading into the series opener, all the talk was focused on Mitchell’s return. Mitchell had been absent from the rotation since April 16 because of a sprained right ankle but he was practicing with the team and the Jazz had publicly announced he would be available in Game 1. The decision to hold him out has helped sever already shaky ties with the organization.
Ultimately it’s clear Mitchell wants to play and he wants to win. It looks like he should be starting in Game 2. While the team’s Game 1 decision thrusts his status into question, Mitchell’s presence on the court should be enough for Utah to secure a win against Memphis.
NBA Pick: Jazz 116, Grizzlies 110
Golden Knights vs Wild (Wednesday)
When: 9 p.m. ET
Where: Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, Minnesota
NHL Run Line Odds: Vegas Golden Knights -1½ (+190) || Minnesota WIld +1½ (-230)
The Vegas Golden Knights vs Minnesota Wild series is heating up. After losing Game 1, the Golden Knights mounted a three-game winning streak to get a dominant grasp in the series. However, the Wild managed to snap that streak in Game 5 and will be looking to force a Game 7.
Things aren’t looking up for the Wild, though, since Vegas has outscored them 9-2 when playing in Minnesota. The Wild’s home-ice advantage will be their doom this Wednesday night as the Golden Knights punch their ticket to the next round.
Looking over the NHL odds, it’s clear the run line offers the best value. After all, the Golden Knights have dominated the Wild in Minnesota in Games 3 and 4.
