Bet on Celtics vs Grizzlies – Aug. 11: NBA Free Pick

Who to Bet On: Celtics vs Grizzlies

The Boston Celtics will face the Memphis Grizzlies Tuesday in Orlando. With the regular season winding down, the Grizzlies are looking for an important win to try and secure playoff positioning. Read on for our preview of this game and a free pick at the end. Take that pick and bet on the Celtics vs Grizzlies with the latest NBA betting lines in our sportsbook.

Boston is guaranteed third place in the Eastern Conference. They are 47-23, with three wins in a row under their belt. With their seed locked, we’ll likely see a lot of play from bench players to give the starters a bit of a rest before heading to the playoffs.

Memphis isn’t sitting as pretty. The Grizzlies came into the final eight games of the regular season looking strong for a guaranteed playoff spot. Loss after loss has put that in jeopardy with the Trail Blazers and Spurs hot on their heels.

The Grizzlies had to be four games ahead of the next-ranked team in order to guarantee their spot in the playoffs. Unfortunately, they were on a five-game losing streak before defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder Aug. 7 in the Orlando bubble. They will now be forced to play-in for their playoff seed even if they end up as No. 8 in the standings at the end of the regular season.

Celtics Likely to Rest Starters

After an impressive third straight win, the Celtics can take a breather before starting their 2020 playoff campaign. Sitting comfortably at No. 3 they have no reason to risk the health of their best players.

It’s also a great chance to give their bench more time on the court. This could be a big factor heading into the playoffs. Although the NBA continues to be highly competitive under quarantine, scores have been higher than average and some players seem to have lost their groove since returning to empty arenas after a lengthy break. Just take a look at Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers; he has struggled to get back into form since the restart.

The 2019-2020 season has been led by PF Jayson Tatum, SG Jaylen Brown and PG Kemba Walker. Tatum and Brown lead the team in scoring, averaging almost 45 PPG between them.

Boston is coming off of an exciting win against the Orlando Magic and although they moved the ball brilliantly throughout the game they still have one glaring weakness – a center with presence and height.

If they want a chance to play in the NBA Eastern Conference finals this year they will have to find a way to get their centers to post more points and hold off players down below on defense. Check out their odds to win the conference and place a wager if you think they can get past the Raptors and Bucks.

Although they are probably not the team to bet on for the NBA championship they have still had a great run and it will be fun to see how they fare in the playoffs.

Grizzlies Fail to Guarantee Playoff Spot

After facing another tough loss against the Toronto Raptors, Memphis is going to have to win one of its next two games to guarantee a spot in the play-in series on Saturday.

This is not the outcome that this team was looking for at the end of this regular season. If they lose both of their next two games, they open the door for Portland and San Antonio to pass them.

If both the Trail Blazers and Spurs win their next two games (they play strong teams), the Grizzles could theoretically lose their chance to play for a playoff spot.

The Celtics will not be an easy match for the Grizzlies. Memphis will be facing the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, the Eastern Conference leaders, and will not easily walk away with a victory unless the Bucks also decide to rest their starters.

With two tough opponents coming up, the Memphis Grizzlies are going to have to find another gear. If they can just manage one win, they guarantee themselves a spot in the play-in series.

Although the Grizzlies might have a tough week, it will make for exciting basketball for fans.

Celtics vs Grizzlies Head to Head

These teams met once in January and the Celtics dominated 119-95.

The only saving grace for Memphis will be if the Celtics choose to rest their best players for most or all of the game on Tuesday. If they do, which would be smart since they have their position locked in, the Grizzlies might have a chance.

Memphis still needs a win to guarantee a spot in the play-in series over the weekend and will be playing like their postseason lives depend on it. Bet on the Celtics vs Grizzlies regardless if you agree with this pick or not.
