Atlanta, Detroit Complete Back-to-Back Set

Strong Hawks Squad Taking on Abysmal Pistons

The Atlanta Hawks will be sticking around in Michigan to face off with the Detroit Pistons for the second time in three days. Yes, you read that right: the two sides will square off in Detroit for a second consecutive game.

Their last matchup was on Wednesday in a game where Atlanta took control and earned a 118-113 win. However, they closed as a 7.5-point favorite on the NBA betting odds and did not cover those who bet online.

The victory pushed the Hawks to 3-1 on the season, even though their star Trae Young hasn’t been shooting the ball well. Meanwhile, the Pistons seem to be putting the tank on for Victor Wembanyama, as they’ve lost four straight games to drop down to 1-4.

Which side is the best choice for your NBA picks? Let’s take a closer look.

Let’s check the latest NBA odds, stats, injury reports, and NBA lines for Hawks vs Pistons. We’ve plenty of NBA betting odds for you to consider.

Hawks Depth Playing Well

We all expect strong numbers from star point guard Trae Young, but they haven’t been happening yet. He’s shooting 34.8 percent from the floor and 22.9 percent from behind the arc.

Thankfully, the rest of the team has stepped up their own shooting to lift them. Newly acquired Dejounte Murray and John Collins are shooting over 35 percent from three.

Speaking of Murray, he’s been a wonderful second/third option on the roster to start the year. He’s averaging 18.3 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game, which is incredible, considering how Young is the facilitator on the roster.

That new dynamic is likely causing a period of adjustment for Young. However, Collins has adjusted very well, pouring on 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds to round out a formidable trio.

Pistons Too Young to Compete This Year

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Pistons aren’t ready to compete for a playoff spot or a .500 record this season. There was some outside hope, but it wasn’t their expectation.

This group has a lot of young talent but not a lot of depth that can come in and change the outcome of a game. However, Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey have been great at the guard position, averaging 20.0 points and 16.0 points, respectively.

Their most impressive player up to this point has been Bojan Bogdanovic. He was picked up in what many felt was a thruway trade with the Utah Jazz in the offseason. He has been unleashed as the Pistons let him take whatever shots he wants.

He’s averaging a whopping 23.2 points per game to lead the team. It’s still not enough, as there isn’t enough help around him.

Hawks vs Pistons Prediction

Even with Young’s poor shooting from the floor, the Hawks are the better team. That’s what’s scary here; if he has a good night, he’ll help the Hawks cover in the sportsbook.

And then there’s Murray, Collins, and the rest of the bench, who give the Hawks a huge edge. Although they didn’t cover the first time, lay the points here as they should get the job done this time around.
