16 Consecutive Losses Between Two Worst Teams
The Charlotte Hornets and Houston Rockets couldn’t be having a worse season, but at least one team will finally win on Wednesday.
Houston is riding an 11-game losing streak and the Hornets have dropped five on the bounce, so it’s a competition to see which team has more heart.
There isn’t much between them in most categories, which is reflected in NBA betting markets.
Let’s check the latest NBA odds, stats, injury report and NBA lines for Hornets vs Rockets. We’ve plenty of NBA betting odds for you to consider.
Hornets Welcome Easier Opposition
It hasn’t been an easy time for the Hornets, who faced the Pacers, Raptors, and Celtics over their last five games.
Losing by 16 and 12 points to the Celtics isn’t a terrible performance, but the Hornets are a better team than they’re showing, although bettors haven’t cashed in.
They are 18-24-3 against the spread (ATS) after failing to cover in seven of their last 10 games, including their last four. It’s not a good record, as they were listed as underdogs in eight of those games.
However, they don’t get a better chance to end the streak than against the hapless Rockets, who couldn’t defend if their lives depended on it. It should give the Hornets a chance to showcase their offense, which ranks 22nd in the NBA compared to 28th for the Rockets.
The sportsbook reflects this, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them come out with a point to prove. They are 13 games behind Miami in the Southeast standings, so it’s now or never.
Houston, We’ve Had a Problem
The Rockets haven’t taken off, with just 10 wins from 44 games. It has been bitterly disappointing for loyal fans who just want to see something positive.
Despite having a talented team on paper, the Rockets seemingly don’t want to win. They were somewhat competitive on Monday against the Lakers when losing 140-132, but allowing 140 points showcases how little belief they have.
LeBron James scored 48 points, and to our surprise, Rockets coach Stephen Silas gave him credit instead of highlighting his team’s lack of passion on defense.
“That ranks right at the top,” said Silas, an assistant on James’ first two teams in Cleveland. “I’ve seen him have some really good (performances), and that was in the top five for sure.”
We don’t like the attitude, but it seems the Rockets are contemptuous of playing poorly and getting a better chance of a top draft pick. It’s something you don’t want to see, especially as a bettor.
They are 18-25-1 ATS after covering just one of their last 10 games, so betting online markets have factored this into the current odds.
Hornets vs Rockets Game Injuries
Hornets vs Rockets Head-to-Head
The Hornets have covered four of the last five spreads against the Rockets, but they haven’t played since winning 123-99 in 2021.
They are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. However, they are 4-15-2 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Houston, which is a cause for concern.
Under is 22-8 in the last 30 meetings.
