Chicago Out for Blood

The Chicago Bulls host the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday as they look to take a 2-1 season series lead against one of the worst teams in the NBA. A win on Thursday could put the Bulls into the No. 10 seed in the East for the last spot in the Play-In Tournament. A win for the Hornets would mean little in the standings but a lot in the locker room.

Let’s check the latest NBA news, stats, injury report and NBA lines for Hornets vs Bulls. We’ve got plenty of NBA picks for you to consider.

Hornets Look for 2nd Straight Win Over Chicago

The Charlotte Hornets hit the court on Thursday with a few advantages over the Bulls, despite having a far worse record.

Charlotte is a superior team down low, and in their last meeting with Chicago, the Hornets dominated the paint. The Hornets outrebounded the Bulls 52 to 43 and scored more in the paint, 58 to 54. Charlotte also owned Chicago in transition with 23 fast break points compared to 15 from the Bulls.

However, this being a road game may not help the Hornets’ chances of winning, but their recent results suggest it’s a boon to their against-the-spread (ATS) results. Charlotte has the 5th best ATS record on the road at 15-12-2, good for a profit of +1.80 units.

Forward Cody Martin will miss Thursday’s game with a knee injury, but he’s the only recent addition to the Hornets’ injury report.

Bulls Coming Off Tough Week

The Chicago Bulls have most of their stars back from injury and are running low on excuses for why they remain a sub.500 team. Chicago is 1-3 straight up and ATS in their previous four games. One of those losses came to this very same, relatively poor, Hornets team. Chicago didn’t even come close to covering with a 15-point loss as 3½-point favorites.

While the Hornets are an objectively lousy team, the Bulls don’t match up well against them.

Charlotte is a top 5 team regarding points in the paint and rebounds per game. These are two areas where the Bulls rank 20th and 27th, respectively.

Nothing new to report in terms of injuries for the Bulls. Lonzo Ball remains out and may be shut down soon, while Javonte Green needs another week or two to get back to action. This is about as healthy as the Bulls have been all season, but their recent results suggest there is still work to be done.

There’s not a lot to like about either of these teams, but the Hornets have fewer positives. While the Bulls are a good team that plays poorly, the Hornets are just a top-to-bottom horror show.
