Atlanta Still in Danger of Missing Playoffs
The Cleveland Cavaliers are streaking at the right time and have their sights set on beating the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. The Cavs clinched their first playoff berth in the post-LeBron James era, while the Hawks are on track to end up in the Play-In tournament. Despite the gap in the standings, the Cavaliers are mere one-point favorites on the NBA lines.

The Cavaliers bring a four-game winning streak into Tuesday’s road game in Atlanta. As it turns out, the Cavs’ trade with the Utah Jazz for Donovan Mitchell last year was the final piece of the puzzle for them to return to postseason action for the first time in five years. However, Cleveland can still better its seeding as it is 1½ games behind the Philadelphia 76ers in the number three spot.

From a betting standpoint, the Cavaliers have been a profitable bet online recently, going 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their previous four games. They are 2-1 ATS in their last three on the road, with a profit of 0.90 units.
On Tuesday, one negative NBA news spot for the Cavaliers is their laundry list of injuries. Danny Green and Raul Neto have been ruled out, while Jarrett Allen, Dean Wade, and Isaac Okoro are questionable to suit up. With a thick cushion between themselves and the fifth-seeded New York Knicks, it’s reasonable that Cleveland would rest them on Tuesday.

Atlanta holds the number eight seed with a four-game lead over the 11th-seeded Washington Wizards. It’s unlikely Atlanta will miss the playoffs outright, but it needs to step up. They cannot alternate between wins and losses, as they’ve done down the home stretch, if they hope to do any damage in the playoffs.
The results for betting on the Hawks at home are not positive, with a 17-19-1 ATS record. It is the eighth worst mark in the NBA, leaving them with a return on investment (ROI) of -9.58%.
The Hawks’ offense is one of the most high-octane groups in the league, thanks to Trae Young and Dejounte Murray averaging over 20 ppg each. But, defense continues to hold the Hawks back, allowing over 117 points per game.
