Pistons Try To Bounce Back From Ugly Loss vs Knicks

Young Cores Take Center Stage

We enter the final weekend of the NBA regular season. Friday Night offers a plethora of games with various NBA betting options. The Detroit Pistons (16-64) will pay a visit to the Indiana Pacers (34-46).

Both teams are out of the postseason conversation. Several key players will likely rest in the final two regular-season games. However, this gives Detroit and Indiana a chance to showcase their young cores going forward. The Pistons hope to snap their 11-game losing streak. The Pacers are 2-8 straight-up, and 3-7 against the spread in the last 10 games. Which team will end the season on a positive note?

Pistons In Position for Top Draft Selection

Detroit has several key contributors that will likely miss the final two games of the season. Leading scorer Bojan Bogdanovic (21.6 points) has missed the last 17 games with an Achilles injury. Forwards Isaiah Stewart (11.3 points, 8.1 rebounds) and Marvin Bagley III (12 points) will also likely miss the final weekend after missing several contests.

The Pistons are without a lot of production. However, it is allowing young players to flourish. In fact, rookies Jaden Ivey (16.1 points) and Jalen Duren (9.2 points, 8.7 rebounds) have shined over the last two weeks. Ivey has scored at least 20 points in five of the last seven, including two games with 30 or more points. Duren is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds over the last two. The Pacers rank 23rd in rebounds per game. Duren hitting the over on his projected rebounds looks like one of the best NBA bets tonight.

It’s quite obvious Detroit has gone full tank mode as it positions itself for the French phenom Victor Wembanyama, who is -8000 to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft per basketball odds. However, the Pistons are still hoping to see improvement from building blocks such as Ivey.

Pacers Look to Hit From Deep

Indiana will also have some of its best players out. All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton (20.7 points, 10.4 assists) has missed the previous five games with an ankle injury. Center Myles Turner (18 points, 2.3 blocks) was absent from the last six games due to an ankle problem as well.

The Pacers have struggled against NBA lines in recent home games, going 1-4 ATS. However, Detroit holds one of the association’s worst road records at 7-32. Something has to give. Indiana is relying on plenty of young players, similar to the Pistons. Rookie Bennedict Mathurin (16.6 points) could be the top scoring option with Haliburton and Turner out. Mathurin has upped his production to 21.2 points per game in the last five.

Over the last three games, the Pistons allowed 17 made 3-pointers in two of them. This bodes well for Indiana’s sharpshooters Aaron Nesmith (39.5%) and Buddy Hield (42.1%). Nesmith has shot 12 of 20 from deep in the last four games. This is another exceptional prop option to put on your NBA bet slip.

Pistons vs Pacers Picks and Prediction

NBA odds favor Indiana by a significant margin. However, the Pacers have not played well in recent home games. Plus, Indiana ranks last in defensive rebounding percentage while Detroit is 11th in offensive rebounding percentage. The Pacers will also be without Turner, who is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. Duren is poised for a big game. Indiana could also lack the defense to slow Ivey. Take Detroit to cover.

Indiana is listed at -270 in our Vegas NBA lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Pacers, you have a chance to win $37. Detroit is +220, offering a chance to win $220 on a $100 wager. The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Indiana a 72.97% chance to win, with the Pistons at 31.25%.

Pistons vs Pacers Previous(Oct 22, 2022)

The Detroit Pistons have the look of a playoff contender and should be ready for a better performance after Friday’s ugly loss. The Indiana Pacers are shorthanded on the front line, which is going to hurt against the Pistons in this one. Look for an easy victory by the visitors

When doing your NBA betting, take Detroit to win and cover on the road.
