The Nets lost their first four without Durant and Irving’s struggles were a big reason why. Irving straightened out in Friday’s 117-106 win at Utah, scoring 21 of his 48 points in an electrifying fourth-quarter performance. The star guard also led Brooklyn with 11 rebounds and six assists and set the tone early by drawing a couple of charges.
“I put my body on the line and lead by example,” Irving told the media. “When I can get it going on the defensive end and do the little things, it really makes a difference for me and I’m dialed in.”
Behind Irving, Brooklyn shot better than 50% for the second straight time after hitting on 43% in the first three without Durant. They’re seemingly rediscovering their rhythm on the offensive end, something to consider with your bet online.
Warriors Steal Shorthanded Win in Cleveland
Golden State head coach Steve Kerr received plenty of questions after he chose to rest four starters — Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins – against Cleveland.
“I feel terrible for fans who buy tickets who are expecting to see someone play and they don’t get to see that person play,” Kerr told reporters. “It’s a brutal part of the business. It’s why I’m going to continue to advocate for 72-game seasons.”
While fans in Cleveland hoping to see the best the Warriors have to offer were likely peeved, Kerr had to be pretty pleased with how the game worked out. Golden State rode a 32-point effort by Jordan Poole to a 120-114 win, its sixth in 24 games on the road.
The Warriors have been much better at home this season, putting up a 17-5 mark that ranks as the third-best in the West. They’re also 14-7-1 against the spread at home.
