Warriors Continue Long Homestand
Both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors had expectations for greatness this season. The Timberwolves brought in Rudy Gobert to give them a star-studded starting five, and the Warriors were coming off another NBA crown. Yet, here we are approaching March and the teams are stuck at .500, unable to shake free from mediocrity.
It’s an intriguing matchup on which to place a bet online, so read on for a little more insight. And, as always, make sure you check out all the NBA odds, stats, injury reports and NBA lines for Timberwolves vs Warriors in this NBA betting preview.
Timberwolves Look To Snap Two-Game Slide
Minnesota is beginning a trip that will also take them to Los Angeles to play both teams there and then to Sacramento. It’s a big challenge for a team that’s trying to either catch or fend off each of the four opponents on the trip in the Western Conference playoff race.
The excursion begins with Karl-Anthony Towns still sidelined with a calf strain but without a concrete timetable for his return. Head coach Chris Finch recently provided a somewhat vague update that indicated Towns is in the “final stages” of his recovery. Keep an eye on the injury report updates just in case the team decides their star big man is good to go.
Meanwhile, Finch’s team will be trying to recover from back-to-back home losses to sub-.500 East squads, one before the break (Washington) and one after (Charlotte). The 121-113 loss to the Hornets on Friday had the team wondering where its defensive intensity went.
“We’re capable of doing it. That’s why it’s more disappointing than anything,” guard Mike Conley told reporters of the team’s abilities on defense. “We’ve just got to stop gambling, stop reaching, stop giving them opportunities at the free-throw line.”
The Timberwolves will try to figure that out on the road against a team averaging 121.5 points over its last four games.
Thompson Keeping Warriors Afloat
Klay Thompson continues to do special things while Steph Curry is on the mend. Thompson has hit 12 3-pointers in a game twice this month alone, including in his 42-point effort in a win over Houston on Friday.
“I’m being myself and I was capable of these things in the past, and as long as my wrist still works, my feet work, I’ll forever be able to shoot the rock,” Thompson said.
The sharpshooter is averaging 21.9 points and shooting 40.8% from the arc. His 210 made triples ranks second in the NBA to Buddy Hield. Since Dec. 30, he’s averaging 26.3 points while hitting 45% from long range.
Minnesota was one of the few teams to slow down Thompson in that stretch, limiting him to 14 points on 3-for-13 shooting in a win over the Warriors at home on Feb. 1.

Timberwolves vs Warriors Picks & Prediction
If you’re doing some online gambling here, check if Towns is making an unlikely return, just in case. He probably would be on a minutes restriction anyway, but he might give Minnesota a little jolt.
Consider the Warriors’ dominance at home. They are 23-7 at the Chase Center and have won six of the last seven there. Five of those six wins came by six points or more, so a three-point line doesn’t seem all that hard to cover.
Golden State also leads the NBA in hitting the over. That’s always a strong wager when the Warriors are involved.
Minnesota is listed at +120 in our Vegas NBA lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Timberwolves, you have a chance to win $120. Golden State is -140, offering a chance to win $71 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Minnesota a 45.45% chance to win, with the Warriors at 58.33%.
