Celtics Look to Keep Momentum

The Boston Celtics have the second-best record in the league and will face the team with the worst, the Houston Rockets. These teams are on opposite spectrums of the NBA. The Celtics are coming off a Finals run and looking to win it this season, while the Rockets are trying to get the best draft odds. They will play in Houston on Monday, with the Celtics being heavy favorites.

In the Celtics’ last game, they looked like themselves again after a rough patch. They beat the Atlanta Hawks 134-125 on Saturday behind a confident offense. That same day, the Rockets lost their third straight against the Chicago Bulls, 119-111, but did have a lead going into the fourth quarter.

Celtics Back on Track

The Celtics NBA Finals odds have not taken a massive hit, but the last few games have been concerning. They had recently lost three straight, facing the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers. While each team will likely wind up in the playoffs, the way they lost had some losing faith.

Against the Nets, Boston had a 28-point lead before eventually losing by 10. The game with the Knicks went into double overtime, the first of a back-to-back. They faced the Cavaliers on the back end, with the game also going into overtime. Those games pushed the Celtics to their limit, but after a day off, they might have returned to normal.

Before beating the Hawks, the Celtics played the Portland Trail Blazers, winning 115-93. Jayson Tatum had a great game, shooting 64.7% from the field with 30 points. He followed that up with 34 points against Atlanta, but on less efficiency. Boston was great offensively against the Hawks, going 20-42 from 3.

The NBA news may still be focused on the lack of defensive constancy, but when Robert Williams is healthy again, that should help.

Rockets Tough Two Games

The last two games for the Rockets may help them trend in the right direction. For much of this season, Houston has looked aimless on the court, playing no defense and lacking an offensive identity.

Sure, the Rockets lost the last two games, in overtime against the Indiana Pacers, then facing the Bulls. However, each game was at least competitive. The Pacers game went perfectly for the Rockets, unfolding into an offensive back-and-forth game, with rookie Jabari Smith Jr. stepping up with 30 points. Facing the Bulls, Smith Jr. had another excellent game, with a team-high 20 points. Houston would head into the fourth quarter with a lead but gave up 32 points to only scoring 16 to lose.

This is a trend that the Rockets have been on over the last five games. They have covered three NBA lines during that time, along with a push. That makes them more likely for an NBA picks despite struggling most of the season.

Celtics vs Rockets Betting Lines

Celtics vs Rockets Picks and Prediction

The Celtics are the clear favorites, with the Rockets not in the same league talent-wise. However, the question is whether Boston can cover such a large NBA point spread.

The last five games for each team have complicated things. The Celtics have struggled, while the Rockets look competitive. But in the previous two games, Boston has regained its strength, which should help it get back on track, plus the two extra days off before the game. Even with such a large spread, the Celtics should be able to cover.

The Boston Celtics are listed at -800 in our Vegas NBA lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Celtics, you have a chance to win $13. The Houston Rockets is +550, offering a chance to win $550 on a $100 wager.

Celtics vs Rockets Game Summary

Rockets vs Celtics Previous Game(DEC. 27, 2022)

The Houston Rockets haven’t won a lot of games, but they’ve been competitive in a lot of contests this season. We like the Boston Celtics to win this game at home but look for Houston to cover the large point spread.

The Boston Celtics look to extend their two-game winning streak when they host the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. Boston has won two in a row at home after a three-game losing streak and has the best record in the NBA. Houston snapped a five-game losing streak with a road win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night but still has the worst record in the Western Conference. These two teams are at opposite ends of the standings, but check out our NBA betting preview before you determine how to wager on this contest.
