Nets Hope Success Translates To Road

The Brooklyn Nets finished up a 6-1 homestand with a win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, but now they hit the road for four games in eight days, and they’re hoping to keep their momentum. Injuries have kept the Nets from getting a consistent lineup, but they’re starting to get it back, with guard Ben Simmons returning to action on Friday night.

“We know we’ve got a long way to go,” Simmons said after Friday’s win. “A lot of guys have been in and out of the rotation obviously so it’s changing a lot, but we’re just staying focused and we’re building day by day.”

Simmons had missed four games but came back with six points, seven rebounds, and six assists in the victory. Simmons is averaging 8.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 18 games in 2022-23.

Forward Kevin Durant has been the most consistent producer for the Nets, averaging 30.0 points to rank fifth in the league. The 34-year-old is also averaging 6.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game.

Guard Kyrie Irving has scored 33 points in each of the last two games, adding 11 rebounds in Friday’s win against Atlanta. Irving is averaging 25.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists despite being in and out of the Nets lineup this season.

Pacers Continue To Surprise

The Indiana Pacers were thought to be a team that would be tanking for a draft pick, but no one seemed to tell the team, which has surprised with its 14-12 start. Indiana has gelled under coach Rick Carlisle and is being led by a potent perimeter attack.

Guard Tyrese Haliburton is leading the NBA in assists per game with 11.0 while also pacing Indiana with 19.5 points per game. Haliburton is also active on the defensive end, leading the Pacers with 1.8 steals per contest.

Guard Bennedict Mathurin is a top contender for Rookie of the Year honors as he’s been a potent scorer since the start of the season. Mathurin is scoring 18.1 points per game and has shown no fear of shooting the ball from anywhere, hitting 36.4% from 3-point range.

Guard Buddy Hield is coming off a season-high 28-point performance in Friday’s win over the Washington Wizards. Hield is a gunner from long range and is averaging 17.7 points while attempting nearly 10 3-pointers a game, connecting on 37.9% from beyond the arc.

Pacers vs Nets Previous Game (Oct 31, 2022)

The Indiana Pacers host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, where there isn’t much between them with the sportsbook. The Nets are the -2½ favorites despite owning a losing record of 9-10 and being worse at covering spreads at 8-10-1. The Pacers are playing well, so the bookmakers could have this game the other way around.
