The Memphis Grizzlies host the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday in a potential preview of opening-round NBA playoff action. The Grizzlies are on the second night of a back-to-back after beating the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, while the Clippers are coming off a win against the Bulls on Monday. The NBA lines list the Grizzlies as 4½-point home favorites as they go for their eighth win in a row.

Clippers Fighting to Avoid Play-In
While the Grizzlies are guaranteed a spot in the top six teams in the West, the Clippers do not have that kind of security. With six games left on the schedule, the Clippers could mathematically end up anywhere from the third seed or fall out of the playoff race entirely. Neither extreme is likely, but the Clippers have a reasonable risk of ending up in the Play-In Tournament.
The Clippers are at a disadvantage before stepping onto the court with Paul George and Norman Powell scheduled to sit with injuries. Without Paul, the Clippers’ offense will be far less potent. George’s knee will be re-evaluated in a few weeks, while Powell’s shoulder will keep him out. Brandon BostonJr. and Marcus Morris Sr. will also sit.
The Clippers are usually a good NBA bet on the road, with a 20-17 record against the spread (ATS) as an away team. But, without George and Powell, I wonder how long they can keep up their assault on home teams.
Grizzlies Good NBA Bet at Home
Despite clinching a spot in the playoffs, the Grizzlies have not let off the gas one bit over the last couple of weeks. One could argue they dropped the hammer in an attempt to take over the number one seed from the Denver Nuggets. Memphis is on a seven-game winning streak and three-game behind the Nuggets.

The Grizzlies are a dangerous home team with a phenomenal 33-5 overall record at FedEx Forum. It is more of the same regarding NBA betting, as the Grizzlies are the 8th most profitable home team in the NBA. With a return on investment (ROI) of 13.16%, Grizzlies bettors are up 5.50 units on the season.
But it’s not all good NBA news for the Grizzlies right now. Ja Morant caused a ton of drama for this franchise and, after three games back in action, is dealing with a new injury. While a sore right thigh may not seem like much to worry about, the Grizzlies sat Morant on Tuesday against the Magic. To make matters worse, Vince Williams Jr. and Ziaire Williams are also out, along with Steven Adams, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.
The Grizzlies are a great bet online if Morant plays. But we have yet to find answers about his status, so betting on this game early in the day is risky.

Clippers vs Grizzlies Head-to-Head
The Clippers came out on top of the Grizzlies in their only matchup this season, 135-129. But it was the first game Morant was suspended after his gun-toting Facebook live stream, and the Grizzlies still covered as seven-point underdogs on the NBA betting lines.
Regarding totals, the Over/Under is 5-0 in the previous five meetings between these Western Conference rivals.

Clippers vs Grizzlies Picks and Prediction
As of writing, we have no clear indication of whether Ja Morant plays on Wednesday night. Several guys on both teams may miss Wednesday’s game. The deciding factor for me to make my NBA picks is that the Grizzlies, with or without Morant, have been on fire. They look unbeatable and hell-bent on leapfrogging the Nuggets for the top seed in the West.
