Portland Fresh Off Win as 19-Point Underdog

Trail Blazers Aim for Another Upset

The Portland Trail Blazers have lost 11 out of their past 13 games, but their latest win was a big shock in the sportsbook. They were a 19-point underdog but won outright.

They’re again facing similar odds on Tuesday, this time against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies had a streak going where they won 7 straight, but they’ve since lost two of three. However, this looks like a spot where they can get it right.

Who’s Left in Portland?

With the Trail Blazersbeing eliminated from postseason contention, it’s clear that they are focusing on next season. The injury list is long and it feels like it’s growing rapidly.

In case you missed the NBA news, Portland will be without Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, Jusuf Nurkic, Jerami Grant, Keon Johnson, Cam Reddish, and possibly Nassir Little for this game.

Essentially, the entire starting lineup will miss this game as they all rest down the stretch with nothing left to play for. How can you back a team like this one the NBA odds?

Well, they won outright as a 19-point dog, so they could do it again. There’s a lot of new talent to take a look at, but the guy that stands out the most is rookie Shaedon Sharpe.

Sharpe has been outstanding, with three consecutive games of 25-plus points and five-plus assists. He’s got to lead the way if this team has any chance of winning outright or covering the Las Vegas odds here.

Young Grizzlies Look to Rebound

The Grizzlies jumped out to a massive lead in their previous matchup with the Chicago Bulls before collapsing in the second half. It was one of their worst second-half performances this season and will be on their minds on Tuesday.

Luckily, they have a roster that’s certainly capable of handling it. Young point guard Ja Morant is back after his brief leave of absence, providing them with a huge jolt of energy and leadership.

Jaren Jackson Jr. has been a massive difference-maker across the board, averaging 18.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and a whopping 3.0 blocks a night.

He had a huge 30-point game in their defeat against Chicago, but it wasn’t enough in the end. If Memphis can get Jackson and Morant to dominate both ends of the floor, this should be an easy win.

Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies Picks and Prediction

The winner of this game is more than likely going to be the Grizzlies. However, telling you a 17½-point favorite is going to win outright isn’t exactly useful for your sports bets.

Memphis will be motivated here and Portland has a real opportunity to get flattened. It’s tough to lay all of these points for your NBA picks, so take the over in this one. The over has cashed four straight times when Memphis was a home favorite of 12½ or more points.

Memphis is listed at -1800 in our Vegas lines. So, if you wager $100 on the Grizzlies, there’s a chance to win $6. Portland is +920 with a chance to win $920 on a $100 wager.

The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives the Grizzlies a 94.74% chance to win, with the Trail Blazers at 9.80%.

Trail Blazers vs Grizzlies Previous Game (Feb 1, 2023)

The Memphis Grizzlies are happy to be back home and ready to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies struggled on the road, but boast a 21-3 record at FedExForum. They could hand the Trail Blazers their 27th loss.

NBA betting markets have the Grizzlies easily favored to win and continue their march up the Western Conference ladder.

Given the generous -5 line for the Grizzlies, we have to take it.

They are a different team at home, and despite Lillard playing well for the Trail Blazers, it takes more than just one player.
