Stars Missing for East Showdown
There are some big names missing for Monday’s clash between the Milwaukee Bucks vs Detroit Pistons, but it’s an important Eastern Conference game, at least for the Bucks.
The Bucks dropped three of their last five and need a win if they want to stay in third place. On the other hand, the Pistons have lost six of their last seven and are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
NBA betting markets have the Bucks at -11, so the 29-17 team is favored heavily to win.
Let’s check the latest NBA news, stats, injury report and NBA lines for Bucks vs Pistons. We’ve got plenty of NBA picks for you to consider.
Bucks Looking to Belt Pistons
The Bucks need a statement win after losing to Cleveland 114-102 on Saturday, and although the Pistons aren’t a good marker, they need a big confidence boost.
They appeared to be back on track with wins against Indiana and Toronto, but scoring only 102 points against the Cavaliers wasn’t good enough, and it’s coming without Giannis Antetokounmpo on the court.
Despite injuries to their stars, including Khris Middleton and Serge Ibaka, the Bucks are still one of the best teams in the NBA and that’s why the sportsbook has them favored by double digits.
Jrue Holiday had a big outing against the Raptors, stepping up in the absence of Antetokounmpo and Middleton.
“Obviously, we’re a little bit down, a little bit undermanned and he’s just stepped up in a big way,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “It’s two games in a row, just vintage Jrue Holiday. He just seems like he’s got a bounce, he’s got a pop. The way he’s shooting the ball and when gets to the rim and to the paint and gives us that presence, too. He’s doing everything.”
They are 24-20-2 against the spread (ATS), so they’re keeping their head above water for bettors, but they are 1-1 ATS against the Pistons.
Both of those games came at home, so playing the Pistons on the road is a harder task, and without some superstars on the court, that could be made harder.
Pistons Out of Puff
Disappointment continues to reign supreme in Detroit as the Pistons fell to 12-36 with three straight losses to the Pelicans, Knicks, and Bulls.
It’s tough to find any positives. They are 20-25-3 ATS, so they’re not covering enough, and that’s why NBA odds have them as big underdogs.
It’s tough to find value with a team like the Pistons, who have covered only one spread from its last seven games. However, the Pistons pushed the Bucks close in November with a 110-108 loss, so a similar effort at home could see them cover the +11 number.
Cade Cunningham was playing on that occasion but won’t be there on Monday night. That’s a blow, especially for a physical team like the Bucks.
