Pistons Finishing Rough Back-to-Back
The Minnesota Timberwolves have a chance to get back to .500 for the first time in three weeks when they pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. If you’re looking at this game with some online gambling in mind, read on for a little more insight.
Let’s check the latest NBA odds, stats, injury report and NBA lines for Timberwolves vs Pistons. We’ve plenty of NBA betting odds for you to consider.
Timberwolves Aiming for Fifth Straight
The last time Minnesota faced Detroit, it may have been the bottom for the Timberwolves. They had already lost five straight and led the lowly Pistons by 14 at halftime, only to collapse in the second half of an eventual 116-104 loss on New Year’s Eve..
Coach Chris Finch said that was the first night he saw his players truly frustrated by the team’s inability to play good basketball. Perhaps that frustration led to something, as Minnesota hasn’t lost since. A 104-96 victory at Houston on Sunday was the team’s fourth consecutive triumph.
“We’re just doing a much better job of hanging together when things are tough,” Finch said after his team – instead of collapsing like it did against the Pistons – rallied with a dominant fourth quarter to defeat the Rockets.
If the Timberwolves can keep their run going Wednesday night, they’ll be back at .500 for the first time since they were 16-16. A fifth consecutive win would also tie their season high.
Anthony Edwards is questionable for this one. Watch for updates on that front before making a selection.
Pistons Limp Home From Philly
Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid returned from an injury layoff Tuesday against Detroit and it was simply too much for the young Pistons. He had 36 points and James Harden recorded his second triple-double in three games – both against Detroit – in a 147-116 rout.
The Sixers posted their fifth-best scoring output since the 1976-77 merger. It left the Pistons at 29th in the NBA in scoring defense (119.7), and sent the team back to the drawing board before a quick turnaround.
“I can see the growth on a daily, game-to-game basis. but then I have to come in and explain to everybody why we didn’t win. and that’s what’s tough,” coach Dwane Casey said. “The easy part, the fun part is the daily, in the laboratory, coaching, teaching, film sessions, watching guys grow, listen to questions.”
That’s all well and good, but those little strides made in the film sessions probably won’t impact those betting online.

Timberwolves vs Pistons Picks & Prediction
Five of Minnesota’s eight road wins have come by at least eight points. The Timberwolves are giving away seven points in this one against a Detroit team that isn’t doing much right in the past week or so. Provided Edwards is OK (and likely even if he isn’t), Minnesota will exact some revenge for that poor second half on New Year’s Eve and keep its run going.
Minnesota is listed at -250 in our Vegas NBA lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Timberwolves, you have a chance to win $40. Detroit is at +205, offering a chance to win $205 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Minnesota a 71.43% chance to win, with the Pistons at 32.79%.
