Despite being on the second night of a back-to-back, the Washington Wizards could come through as underdogs in their matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. The NBA odds are giving the Wizards three points as they visit Brooklyn, which returns to action after a two-day rest. The Wizards’ recent history suggests they could be the winning side here.
Wizards Make Magic Happen
The Wizards won’t be winning any NBA championships any time soon. But their backers have been feeling like champs recently. Entering their game on Friday night, the Wizards were on a six-game winning streak on both the moneyline and the spread. And when you factor in having no rest, the Wizards are golden in the sportsbook.
The team is 7-2 against the spread (ATS) when on the second night of a back-to-back. It won six of these seven games. Washington is also averaging its most points per game (116.3) and best point differential (+6.7) when playing without rest.
If you factor in that many of their opponents have been playoff contenders like Memphis and Phoenix (albeit without Devin Booker), this team may be better when they don’t get rest. That’s worth considering before betting online.
Nets Making Headlines Again
It’s been a minute since Brooklyn was the talk of the town. Now, thanks to Kyrie Irving, the team is once again front-and-center of the NBA Trade Deadline buzz. The mercurial superstar has notified his team that he wants to be traded during the deadline since he is not re-signing.
Irving is averaging 27.1 points and 5.3 assists on 48.6 percent shooting. He’s had seven games where he’s scored 35 or more points. And yet the team’s record is only 3-4 in these games. Brooklyn is coming off an embarrassing rout against Boston and that may have been the final straw for Irving.
With Kevin Durant injured, the Nets have won just four of their last 11 games. Things appeared to turn a corner when Brooklyn covered five of its last six prior to that no-show against Boston. But now, just as Brooklyn was salvaging some shred of decency, Irving found another way to distract the team.

Wizards vs Nets Picks & Prediction
Given where both teams stand, our money is on Washington to edge Brooklyn here. Durant’s absence has whittled down Brooklyn’s efficiency on both ends, especially on defense. The Nets are 21st in defensive rating (117.9) and 24th in net rating (-3.7) without him. On the flip side, the Wizards are 15th in net rating during this span and first during their six-game winning streak.
The Washington Wizards are listed at +115 in our Vegas NBA lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Wizards, you have a chance to win $115. The Brooklyn Nets are -135, offering a chance to win $74 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives the Wizards a 46.51% chance to win, with the Nets at 57.45%
