2022-2023 NBA Preview: Los Angeles Clippers

This is a very exciting season in Los Angeles. The Clippers were able to get to the NBA play-in round without Kawhi Leonard and (for most of the season) Paul George.

Now they have those two stars back in their lineup, and healthy, which means their prospects of winning the NBA Championship will shoot way up.

The Clippers could be the prime Western Conference title contender to the Golden State Warriors – especially after acquiring point guard John Wall in the offseason.

Ty Lue and the Clippers franchise are still looking for their first-ever appearance in the NBA Finals. The NBA betting odds suggest that there’s a distinct possibility it will happen in 2023.

Let’s check the latest NBA picks, stats, injury reports, and NBA predictions. We’ve plenty of NBA expert picks for you to consider.

Los Angeles Clippers Odds

  • To win the NBA championship +700
  • To win Western Conference +325
  • To win Pacific Division +185
  • To make playoffs Yes -3000/ No +900

Player to Watch

Norman Powell came over from the Trail Blazers in a February trade and averaged 19 points per game last season.

The last two months of the season spent with the Clippers naturally gave him lots of opportunities to score since Kawhi Leonard wasn’t on the floor.

With Leonard back in action, Powell won’t be as much of a ball-dominant player, so his numbers aren’t going to rise.

Nevertheless, he can work off Kawhi and become a very useful secondary scoring option for the Clippers, benefiting from the attention Kawhi will draw when he is on the floor.

Powell will give the Clippers depth, scoring punch, and energetic two-way play – something they were missing during their last playoff run.

This is part of why the Clippers are a top-tier NBA title contender, according to the NBA odds: depth, defense, balance, two-way players, and lots of energy. Powell, in many ways, embodies that combination of ingredients.

Breakout Player

Speaking of that depth, Covington is part of it, but he fills a different role.

He came to the Clippers from Portland along with Norman Powell in a deal that sent Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, Keon Johnson, and a pick to the Trail Blazers.

Covington is a well-traveled NBA veteran, previously playing with the Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets. He is a 3-and-D player, a guy who can shoot 3-pointers and whose primary value is at the defensive end of the floor.

He didn’t get to play with Kawhi Leonard because Kawhi was out for the whole season with an injury. Now we get to see Covington on the floor with Kawhi and George, which should make it much easier for Covington to get open looks.

The trade for Covington was smart because he was able to get a few months of work in Ty Lue’s system. As a result, he won’t start this season unaware of what is expected. Additionally, to check out more specific information about the NBA props available for the Clippers vs Warriors matchup.

This is another reason why you should consider this team for your NBA picks right out of the gate.

Clippers Outlook

The most snake-bitten franchise in the NBA endured a season with injuries to Kawhi and Paul George. However, the team did well, despite missing two big stars.

Now those stars are back, and the front office has provided a solid supporting cast. They even added point guard John Wall in the offseason, which is a low-risk, high-upside move that’s looked really good so far (in camp and preseason).

The pieces are in place for the Clippers to make a big run at their first NBA Finals. If you’re looking for a good bet online for a team with a legit shot to win it all, consider these Clippers for your futures.
