The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers have been divisional foes for decades now, but their rivalry took on a new life last season when James Harden requested a trade to the City of Brotherly Love, which ended up being accommodated.

First Look at Ben Simmons in over a Year
The last time we saw Ben Simmons, he passed up a wide-open dunk underneath the rim and passed it off to his teammate for a lower percentage look down the stretch in Game 7 between the Philadelphia 76ers’ second-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.
That decision proved to be costly, as that killed any sort of momentum that the Sixers had.
But now, with the Brooklyn Nets, expectations for Simmons are much different, as he’s expected to be a playmaking and defensive specialist who can make life easier for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Simmons is unafraid to push the ball in transition and dump off the ball when he sees his teammates open, which should keep opposing defenses honest at all times.
Simmons can also take on the assignment of guarding the opposing team’s best player. The Nets’ NBA title odds are looking great, so if they can stay healthy and together, then we can finally see this group win a championship.
Which James Harden Will Show Up?
Harden is not too far removed from his MVP campaign, as he won the prestigious award back during the 2017-18 season with the Houston Rockets.
Now with the Philadelphia 76ers, Harden has a new role to fulfill, as he will take on more of a secondary role as a scorer and allow Joel Embiid to be the alpha in the primary role.
Harden will also continue to be a playmaking threat. A role he embraced when he was teammates with Durant and Irving on the Brooklyn Nets.
However, Harden still needs to be able to step up as a scorer from time to time, which Embiid heavily suggested last season during the playoffs.
With Harden using the offseason to get into better shape, expect him to be better than he was last season.

Simmons will have a great opportunity to shake off some rust and play with something to prove, especially given the fact that this is just a preseason game, where almost nobody will be playing at full speed.
We will also get a great look at how Simmons, Durant, and Irving will look as a group for the first time, which should leave Nets fans just in absolute awe.
The Sixers will probably look to limit Embiid’s minutes given the injury-prone nature of the big fella, but when he’s out there, he should still be expected to have a dominant impact.
