Are the Warriors’ Championship Hopes Over With Steph Curry’s Injury?
Steph Curry Has Suffered a Hamstring Strain and Will Miss Game 2 Against the Wolves
Huge Blow
This has been a season of many ups and downs for the Golden State Warriors. It looked like the team was going nowhere, as there were many NBA rumors about them failing to trade for stars.
However, they eventually pulled off a deal for Jimmy Butler and started playing amazing basketball from there, and won a ton of NBA games. In the NBA playoffs, they knocked out the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets in Round 1.

Game 1 of Round 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves got off to a great start, as the Warriors were dominating them. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all good NBA news for the Warriors.

Typical timeline of healing is

Grade II: 3-6 weeks pic.twitter.com/fSY4ElyyaM— Dr. Evan Jeffries, DPT (@GameInjuryDoc) May 7, 2025
While they were able to win in Game 1, they may have been the biggest losers. Superstar guard Steph Curry was forced to leave the game early with a hamstring injury. He did not return to the game and has been ruled out for Game 2.

If the Warriors can’t get Steph Curry’s stats, many NBA picks and predictions are going to go against them.
Can Warriors Win Without Curry?
The Warriors proved that they can at least win one game without Curry, but it’s hard to imagine the Timberwolves will only hit 17.2% of their threes again. It’s also hard to see Buddy Hield putting up 24 points every game of the series.
That said, if Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Hield played how they did in Game 1 throughout the whole series, the Timberwolves are in trouble. The Warriors can’t win a championship without Curry, but they can win this series.
“A little deflating, but we knew he had done a great job of helping us build a comfortable enough lead. And Robin [Jimmy Butler] turned into Batman. What y’all call Buddy? … Yeah, Alfred [Buddy Hield] turned into Robin, and they just filled in, so it was beautiful to see,” Green said after the game. “And then everybody played great minutes.”
THIS. WHOLE. POSSESSION.
Stephen Curry is just different.

Curry has already been ruled out for Game 2, but his status is still unclear going forward. There’s no doubt he’ll be doing everything he can to get back on the court soon.
