The NBA preseason is a great time to watch teams prepare for the upcoming regular-season schedule and bettors get an excellent game to wager on this Thursday.
On the card is the Milwaukee Bucks versus Atlanta Hawks – two of the more exciting Eastern Conference teams.
The Bucks are +700 to win the NBA championship while the Hawks are +5000 to cause an upset.
Bucks’ Second Unit
The Bucks lost their opening preseason game to the Memphis Grizzlies, but it was mostly the second unit on the court.
It gives them a chance to show the coach that they’re worth including in regular-season contests. Therefore, they’ll be hoping to play a bit better against the Hawks following the 107-102 loss.
It marks the third consecutive loss, including back-to-back games in the NBA playoffs against the Boston Celtics. Despite having Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, it didn’t translate when it counted.
It could be a tough game against the Hawks, who have plenty of perimeter shooting. The Bucks will look to bang bodies in the paint, but if they allow the Hawks to shoot open three-pointers, it could be a long night at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
NBA betting markets are likely to frame a close betting contest.
Hawks Ready to Take Flight
The Hawks didn’t put up much of a fight against the Miami Heat in the playoffs, but we put that down to their attitude.
For most of the year, the Hawks didn’t put pressure on themselves to win. They believed making the playoffs was enough to be satisfied, but the lack of effort came back to bite them when it counted.
The main culprit was Trae Young, and coach Nate McMillan is trying to improve their chemistry.
“One of the big areas that I feel we need to improve on is the connection between the two of us,” McMillan told ESPN. “I think we need to be better at communicating with each other and what we want to do and how we want to go about doing it”.
“He’s the face of the franchise and it’s something that he has just inherited. He will have to work at it and become better.”
Despite the problems and their +5000 forecast to win, betting online markets should have them right in the market against the Bucks.
Bucks vs Hawks Head-to-Head
There is only one win separating the Bucks and Hawks. The Bucks have a 115-114 advantage in the regular season thanks to a 124-115 win in March.
Prior to that, the Hawks had won three straight.
