Celtics Shock Heat To Force Game 7
Derrick White's Hoop as Time Expired Sends Series Back to Boston
An improbable put-back has the Boston Celtics in a position to dig out of a hole that has been impossible in NBA history.
Derrick White scored off a missed 3-point shot by Marcus Smart on Saturday to give the Celtics a stunning 104-103 victory over the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

White’s offensive rebound and putback went in just as the clock hit 0.0.

The victory gives the Celtics a home Game 7 Monday and a chance to advance to the NBA Finals.
If they can defeat the Heat, it would be the first time in NBA history a team has overcome a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series.

The frantic finish — a season-saving hoop — came after Jimmy Butler sank three free throws following a foul to give Miami the lead.
The foul on Butler was reviewed because at first officials said it was two free throws. While changing it to three foul shots, they also added time on the game clock from 2.1 seconds to 3 full seconds.
The time added saved the Celtics, in addition to White’s offensive board and hoop.
At BetUS, the lines for Game 7 were up immediately after Boston’s win and the Celtics are a strong favorite, according to NBA odds.

The NBA Finals will start on June 1. If Miami advances, Game 1 would be in Denver. If the Celtics win, they would have homecourt advantage for the best-of-seven championship series.
Derrick White is the 2nd player in NBA history to make a game-winning buzzer-beater when facing elimination and his team trailed prior to the shot.
The other player to do this? Michael Jordan in 1989 vs the Cavaliers.
