The only Green celebrating in Boston on Thursday was Draymond.
And you know what that means: The Golden State Warriors are NBA champions for the fourth time in eight seasons.
They used a 21-0 run in the second quarter to break away from the Boston Celtics and went on to a 103-90 victory in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Boston kept trying to claw back and would cut the deficit under double digits in the fourth quarter but the energy expended was too much to catch a Warrior team that put on a vintage performance.
It was led by Steph Curry, who was named Finals MVP and earned the Bill Russell Award. Curry had 34 points and was magnificent from outside the arc and inside the paint.
Boston had no answer for the incredible guard.
The Warriors add the 2022 championship to those they won in 2015, ’17, and ’18. This is the third of the four titles GSW won on the road in this dynastic run. This was the sixth Finals appearance in eight years.
Coach Steve Kerr has nine championship rings between his playing career and time on the Golden State bench.
“This might be the most unlikely one of all,” Kerr said. “I hang around superstars. When you hang around superstars great things happen.”
Golden State lost the first game in the series and fell behind 2-1 before rattling off three straight victories.
“In the beginning of the season, nobody thought we would be here,” Curry said, “except for the people on this court right now.
“Never take this for granted. You never know when you will be back here.”
Green had 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists as he put forth an effort people have to come to see throughout the veteran’s career.
