Jimmy Butler Signs With the Warriors in a Major Multi-Team Trade

An Insane Multi-Team Swap Went Down Before The Trade Deadline With Jimmy Butler Finally Leaving Miami

It Finally Happened, Butler Got Traded

I never thought I’d see the moment before the trade deadline to say this, but, as reported by NBA news senior reporter Shams Charania, the Miami Heat were finally able to trade Jimmy Butler in an insane multi-team trade that sent Miami’s former disgruntled star to the Golden State Warriors.

After days of continuous stress and NBA rumors flying left and right on where Butler would end, Jimmy will now join the likes of Steph Curry and Draymond Green in the bay.

Following the news, it was also reported that Butler and the Warriors wasted no time whatsoever, inking a two-year, $121 million contract extension that links the player with the Warriors until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Thank God he signed. I was beginning to worry that his unemployment jokes would turn into reality if he didn’t land a new gig before the NBA trade deadline and he would have to get a job at Starbucks to make ends meet.

This Deal Screams Russell Crowe’s: ‘Are You Not Entertained?’

Last night, as my phone started blasting notifications of Butler’s trade something dawned on me. While I was hanging out with my pup Yema (who just happened to turn 12 today, happy birthday to the goodest girl ever) I thought, this trade can’t just be as simple as Jimmy joining Steph and Miami getting a nice bounty.

Then, as all of the finalized trade details came out, all I could hear in the back of my mind was Russell Crowe’s line from Gladiator, “Are you not entertained?”

Ready for a little game of who went where? Here we go.

To get Butler, the Warriors sent Andrew Wiggins (this move lowkey hurts a bit), Kyle Anderson plus a projected top-10 2025 first-round draft pick to Miami.

Simple, right? It was simple enough for a fan to let Miami’s bench know as the trade went down mid-game.

Between Jimmy Butler’s stats and his playoff record, and what Wiggins plus a strong draft pick can bring to Miami, there’s no real fuzz.

Echoing everybody’s inner Billy Mays voice: “But wait, there’s more!” Dennis Schroder, who was picked up by GS in December, will now join the Utah Jazz, all while Utah will send former Heat forward PJ Tucker back to Miami, and Lindy Waters III (Warriors) will join the Detroit Pistons, alongside Josh Richardson (Heat).

I know that’s a whole lot of people going left and right all because of Butler. But hey, the NBA is not just about hoops, it’s about business as well. If you don’t believe it, just look at Pat Riley’s deal with the NFL.

Will Steph & Jimmy Tear Up the West?

So, who’s ready to talk about what the Butler trade means to the Western Conference title betting odds landscape?

Jimmy joining the Warriors alongside Luka Doncic joining the Lakers already makes for the West an open battleground full of potential NBA finals contenders alongside the OKC Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets.

Oh, and as a friendly NBA picks and predictions piece of advice, don’t sleep on the Minnesota Timberwolves either, or the San Antonio Spurs following the De’Aaron Fox trade.

While the Spurs could become a sneaky link to keep up with, over in Minnesota, Anthony Edwards is a wild, wild man who happens to love stepping up on people and giving them a little taste of why he’s H-I-M.

Anyways, back to Butler, Golden State, and the wild, wild west.

Following the deal, Curry, Golden State’s leader and bonafide legend made it clear what’s expected from Butler as he joins his Warriors. Stating: “We expect to have a motivated, committed Jimmy”, who’s about to tell Steph no to that?

Looking at the updated NBA Championship winner odds at BetUS Sportsbook, following the trade Golden State’s odds went from +6000 to +4000, showing a significant leap. It will now be up to the Warriors to step up and show the West what’s up, or get the ball rolling on a potential title run next season.
