The Unicorn is Back

The Boston Celtics are getting some good news ahead of the NBA Finals. Kristaps Porzingis has missed most of the playoffs due to a calf injury. There have been plenty of NBA rumors about him returning but the Celtics haven’t faced any adversity in the playoffs and didn’t need to rush him back.

Here’s a look at some NBA Odds to consider!

With the Finals starting up soon, the Celtics have no reason to hold him back and Porzingis is now expecting to be ready to play in Game 1.

Porzingis has missed a lot of NBA games due to injury throughout his career but this will be the first time he’ll be able to play in the NBA Finals. It’s hard to imagine he’ll miss any games unless his injury is more serious than he’s letting on.

What Porzingis’s Return Means for Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis’s stats have been really solid for the Celtics this season and he’s been one of their most important players. The Mavericks and Luka Doncic have looked good in the playoffs so Boston needs all the help it can get.

The Porzingis trade was the biggest move the Celtics made in the offseason but it sacrificed some of their depth. The team arguably has the best starting five in basketball but they don’t have much of a bench. It’s easy to beat a bunch of banged-up Eastern Conference teams in the playoffs but the Mavericks are a different beast. If the Celtics aren’t at full strength, they won’t win.

It’s also worth noting that Porzingis and Doncic have a bit of a beef. The two were teammates on the Mavericks previously and they didn’t get along. Dallas chose Doncic over Porzingis and the latter probably has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to his former team.

That will likely factor into why he’ll be committed to playing in this even if he’s not 100% healthy.
