Philadelphia Nudges Ahead
The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t getting the love from the bookmakers right now, despite clinching the pivotal 126-121 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night to draw level with the Boston Celtics in the standings.

The 76ers are 45-27 with a .625 winning percentage (PCT) while the Boston Celtics are 46-38 with a .622 PCT. Clearly, very little separates the pair in terms of their PCT.
The difference is found in form. The Sixers are 6-4 in their last 10 games while the Celtics are a whopping 9-1 during the same span.
Philadelphia has 10 games left on the season, including a tough back-to-back away and home stretch against the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday and Tuesday, respectively. They’re also slated to face playoff hopefuls in the Toronto Raptors, Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers, to name a few.
Most importantly, however, the 76ers will see a couple of eliminated sides, the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons, twice in the final few weeks, including a pair of games against these stragglers to bring down the curtain on the 2022 regular season at home.
In the broad spectrum of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers are amongst the contenders for the NBA championship, priced at +900 with BetUS. They’re also priced advantageously to win the conference at +400.
In both these aforementioned markets, the 76ers have better NBA odds than the Celtics. If that’s not an interesting twist, what is? Certainly, it stands in stark contrast to the current betting landscape in the division.
Celtics Favored to Win Division
The Boston Celtics are priced at -165 to win the Atlantic Division while the Philadelphia 76ers come in as the slight underdogs priced at +125 in betting online markets.
The Celtics are surging behind a five-game winning streak that saw them improve to a 9-1 record in the last 10 games. They have eight games left on the season – two fewer than the 76ers – so the pressure is on to maintain this momentum.

The Celtics close the season on a tough three-game road stretch that includes dates against the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies. Yikes! Before those, they must contend with three playoff hopefuls, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat. The only so-called “easy” games on the schedule involve the Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers – two sides that are all but eliminated from contention.
The Celtics are priced at +500 to win the conference and at +1100 to win the NBA championship. That puts them a good distance behind the 76ers on the online sports betting board.
Betting the Atlantic Division Outrights
Although the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics are separated by a nose hair in the standings, the 76ers have several advantages over their rivals that could be a factor in the race to the Atlantic Division title. They have wiggle room with two more games than the Celtics, they have a slightly more favorable schedule that will pit them against questionable opponents and they’ll close the season at home. For these reasons, the 76ers come across as the value NBA pick to win the Atlantic Division title.
