NBA Tuesday Recap March 02

There Were Some Nail-Biting Results

Six games were on the card, but Tuesday’s NBA action provided bettors with plenty of close contests.

The action kicked off with a barnstorming finish between the Detroit Pistons and the Washington Wizards. The money was with the Wizards at -3½, and despite winning 116-113, it wasn’t quite enough to cover the spread. It was a close-run thing for the sportsbook as the Pistons kept coming at the favorites. Kyle Kuzma chimed in with 21 points and nine rebounds, giving the Wizards their 16th home win. The over 216 cashed by 13 points thanks to a 76-point second quarter.

The Eastern Conference action continued when the Boston Celtics rebounded with a 107-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks. It was a big win for the Celtics, who relied on their defense to get the job done. It wasn’t looking good at the half after allowing the Hawks to score 65 points, but they limited the +6½-point underdogs to 33 second-half points. Jason Tatum had 33 points, which was enough to see the Celtics score their 37th win.

“It’s part of us. It’s part of me. It’s something that when we’re being physical, it helps us on the defensive end. But also on the offensive end,” Marcus Smart told ESPN. It just shows that if we continue to come out like this, this is the team that we are. This is the identity that we have. It’s going to be hard for teams,” he said.

Betting online markets had the Toronto Raptors as firm -8½ favorites to beat the Brooklyn Net twice in a week. They got the job done narrowly 109-108, but it wasn’t as easy as they would have hoped. The straight-up win looked in doubt for most of the game, but the Raptors pulled out the goods with a 28-19 fourth quarter. It was a valiant effort in defeat for the Nets, who are slipping down the Eastern Conference rankings without their star players. The under 218½ cashed narrowly thanks to the Nets scoring only 19 fourth-quarter points.

The Los Angeles Clippers needed a win for their confidence and the 113-100 win against the Houston Rockets was what the doctor ordered. NBA betting odds had the Clippers at -7, so they covered the spread after a big third quarter. The 40-25 quarter turned the momentum in their favor. Under bettors cashed with the 227½, which was a high number given their respective form.

The marquee game of the night was the Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves opened as -2½ favorites, but the line changed to the Warriors -1. It was a strong betting move for the visitors, but it was the home team coming away with the 129-114 victory. Golden State has struggled without the defense of Draymond Green and Karl-Anthony Towns was able to capitalize with 39 points and nine rebounds. Steph Curry was big again with 34 points, but he needs more help from his teammates.

Bookmakers had the line at five points for the Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Lakers, which ended up being a push. The Mavericks won 109-104, which kept their good form alive and continued the Lakers’ dreadful run of outs. A double-double from LeBron James couldn’t save the Lakers, who have fallen seven games behind .500. The under 217 fell short by four points after the Mavericks scored only 14 third-quarter points and the Lakers scored only 17 in the fourth quarter.
