Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Officially Has the Highest Annual Salary in NBA History
SGA Just Won MVP, Finals MVP, and a Scoring Title, and Now He’s Got the Richest Annual Salary in NBA History
MVP 🏆⭐
Look, unless you just made $285 million this week, your life probably isn’t hitting like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s right now. NBA news dropped this morning: SGA signed a four-year extension with the Thunder worth a ridiculous $285 million. That’s $71.25 million per year. Richest annual salary in league history. Ever.

Shai-Gilgeous Alexander now has the richest annual salary for a player in NBA HISTORY 🤯

But are we really shocked? The guy just carried OKC to their first NBA championship, won Finals MVP, regular season MVP, and led the league in scoring. That’s Michael Jordan and Kareem-level stuff. Not bad company.
The Numbers That Made It Happen
If you haven’t looked at SGA stats lately, here’s a quick refresher: 32.7 points, 5 boards, 6.4 assists per game. That’s before the playoffs, where he basically took the Pacers apart in seven games to win it all. His 3,172 total points (regular season plus playoffs) are the most since Jordan in ‘93. Just absurd.

This extension keeps him in OKC through 2031, meaning Thunder fans can sleep easy knowing their rebuild era is officially dead and buried. They’ve got their guy, and with co-star Jalen Williams coming up alongside him, NBA predictions are simple: Oklahoma City isn’t going anywhere except back to the Finals.

When asked about the deal, SGA just said, “I just want to keep winning.” Honestly, what else do you expect from a guy who just swept the league? He just wants another ring. That’s the mindset!

What About Me?
If you’re an LA Lakers fan reading this, relax. Your team’s still busy trying to trade for everyone with a pulse (love them though, sigh). Meanwhile, SGA’s just over here being the face of a team that actually knows how to build something. Something to remember when you’re making your NBA picks.
So yeah. MVP, Finals MVP, scoring champ, and now $71 million a year. Not a bad week for SGA.
