The Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs have both had some historic games as interstate rivals, including Tracy McGrady scoring 13 points in 35 seconds to lead his team over the Spurs in 2004.
Now both teams are in a rebuilding stage, as they are compiling young talent in hopes of being competitive once again in the Western Conference for years to come.

Look Out for Alperen Sengun
When the Houston Rockets traded Christian Wood over the offseason, it opened up room for prospect Alperen Sengun to break out and showcase his entire skillset.
Sengun showcased potential to be an all-around threat in the NBA, as he averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in just under 21 minutes per game.
With Wood out of the picture, that will give the second-year pro all of the opportunity to have a breakout season and be able to fight through his mistakes, as the Rockets are banking on him being a building block for the future.
Third overall pick Jabari Smith will also be heavily featured, as the Rockets hope he can live up to his potential of being a Kevin Durant type of player.
Jalen Green will also have an opportunity to build off his impressive rookie season, as he averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
What Can Be Expected from the Spurs?
The San Antonio Spurs have no real building block to build toward the future with on their roster right now, with Dejounte Murray shipped off to the Atlanta Hawks over the offseason.
Keldon Johnson is a nice piece, as he averaged 17.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game last season, but he should not be considered a potential face of the franchise moving forward. He will also not be available for this game.
Jakob Poeltl put up a nice season last season for the Spurs, as he averaged 13.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He’s a candidate to be shipped out this offseason for future assets.
Several other guys on the Spurs roster who will look for opportunities are Devin Vassell, Doug McDermott, Joshua Primo, Isaiah Roby, and Zach Collins.
