Road Kind to Sun in June
This is about as good as it gets for late June games in the WNBA. The Chicago Sky have the best winning percentage in the WNBA during the month of June with an 8-2 mark while the Connecticut Sun are 7-3 in the month.
The Connecticut Sun can end the month of June with a 5-1 record on the road with a win on Wednesday afternoon. It won’t be easy as Connecticut has lost its last four road games against the Sky.
Chicago has won the last three games against Connecticut and currently has the longest active winning streak in the WNBA with three victories in a row.
Chicago could move into a tie for first place with a win over Connecticut and a loss by Las Vegas on Wednesday night, so there is no post-championship hangover for the Sky.
Chicago has moved from +450 to +375 in the odds to win the WNBA championship in the last week and only Las Vegas (even odds) has a better number according to the WNBA playoff odds. Connecticut’s odds dropped from +275 to +425.
Sun Struggling to Dial Long Distance
The Connecticut Sun opened the season by connecting on 38 percent of their 3-point attempts. It has been a different story in recent action.
Connecticut is just 18 of 74 from 3-point range over the last four games. The two players struggling the most are Jonquel Jones and DeWanna Bonner. Jones, the reigning WNBA Most Valuable Player, is 1 of 13 while Bonner is 3 of 20 during that stretch of the games.
If not for Courtney Williams going 4 of 13 and Dijonai Carrington connecting on 4 of 9 from 3-point range, those numbers could be even worse. Connecticut was just 4 of 12 from 3-point land in the first meeting between the teams.
Each of Connecticut’s last four contests have finished under the Las Vegas odds total.
Vandersloot Finding Rhythm for Sky
The last time that Connecticut and Chicago squared off, Sky star point guard Courtney Vandersloot had eight points. It was her fourth straight game being held in single digits.
It has been a different story in the last six games. With four 20-point efforts in a span of six games, Vandersloot is averaging 17 points on 58.8 percent shooting. She is connecting on 57 percent of her shots from 3-point range.
It was not a surprise to see Vandersloot be named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

With Emma Meesseman wasting little time thriving in her first season with the Sky and with former WNBA MVP Candace Parker, Allie Quigley, Azura’ Stevens and Rebekah Gardner contributing to the offense, the Sky are playing as well as anybody in the WNBA. Chicago won its last game without leading scorer Kahleah Copper, who is considered day to day with a back issue.
Something to consider for those who bet online: Four of Chicago’s last five games have finished over the total.

Sun vs Sky Prediction
The game features the teams with the best field-goal percentage numbers in the WNBA. Chicago comes in at 47 percent and Connecticut isn’t far behind at 46.1.
Connecticut is the top rebounding team in the league while Chicago leads in foul shooting.
Chicago has won six of the last eight matchups with Connecticut and covered in all six of those wins. That run included winning three of the four games in the 2021 playoffs.
Four of the last six games between the teams finished under the total. This season, the teams rank second and third in the WNBA in points per game, so it will be interesting to see if the trend of going under the total continues. Connecticut does rank second in the WNBA in defensive rating.
Head coach James Wade missed the Sky’s last game against Minnesota when he entered health and safety protocols.
With the way Chicago is playing and the recent history of this series, it is pretty hard to pick against the Sky in this one.
