Timberwolves vs Lakers, Game Preview & Live Stream

Media days are over, training camps have started, and the Minnesota Timberwolves visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. The NBA is back, kind of, but not really.

The Timberwolves finally displayed promise last season, as they got to the playoffs after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers in the play-in tournament. Also, last season, the Lakers shockingly missed out on the playoffs after forming a Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.

Los Angeles has the seventh-best odds to win the NBA championship at +1800, while the Timberwolves are listed at +3300.

Let’s check the latest NBA picks, stats, injury reports, and NBA predictions. We’ve plenty of NBA expert picks for you to consider.

Timberwolves Out To Make Another Jump

Karl-Anthony Towns reclaimed his status as one of the elite players in the league last season, as he was named to the All-NBA Third Team. He is listed at +3300 to win MVP honors this season.

Towns became the fifth center in NBA history to register a 60-point game.

Anthony Edwards figures to take a leap next season, as he averaged 21.3 points on 44.1% shooting from the field, including 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in his second season.

The Timberwolves added a much-needed piece next to KAT in Rudy Gobert, as he will take a ton of defensive and rebounding pressure off the gifted big man with his size, length, and defensive instincts.

It will allow Towns to focus more of his energy on the offensive side of the floor and play a more perimeter-oriented game, which his near 40% 3-point accuracy suggests where he thrives the most.

Lakers’ Window of Another Title

Failing to make the play-in tournament is not what the Lakers had in mind heading into last season, as many believed they would be the favorites to win a championship. They will be looking to capitalize on another season with James, the ninth choice in the NBA MVP lines, at +2000. The team around him is built with a great co-star, a former All-Star, and several great veteran players, which gives new head coach Darvin Ham plenty of pieces.

Davis is going to have to show that he can be the superstar player he’s proven to be throughout his career, with health derailing him these past couple of seasons.

Russell Westbrook may also have to readjust his game for the betterment of his team, as he is used to playing with the ball in his hands most of the time.

Timberwolves vs Lakers Head-to-Head

These teams formed a mini rivalry last season with Westbrook and Patrick Beverley, now teammates, going at it multiple times.

However, the Timberwolves proved to be fearless against the former Minneapolis team, as they went 3-1 against them last season.
