Weekend Wrap-Up: NBA Conference Finals Heat Up, Rodgers Runs His Mouth, & More
Timberwolves and Knicks Refuse to Go Down 3 in NBA Conference Finals, & Norris Conquers Monte Carlo Streets
T-Wolves Bite Back in Minnesota
Whoever thought it was a good idea to count the Minnesota Timberwolves out of the race for the Western Conference title should backtrack on their thoughts and stay quiet.
After falling to 0-2 against the OKC Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, the Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, and company, took to heart all NBA rumors about a sweep being right around the corner, beating OKC 143-101 in game 3 of the finals.

From beginning to end, Ant and the Wolves tore the Thunder a new one, putting up an utterly dominant 72 points at halftime.

Putting it plain and simple, Minnesota stepped up and showed that if people knew how to count, they should not count them out of the series just yet.
With a 30-point, nine rebounds, and six-assist performance that brought the house down, Edwards gave NBA fans what they had all been waiting from him this series, one of those performances that scream “face of the league.”

With the series now at 2-1 in favor of OKC, Minnesota enters game four as betting odds underdogs.

Considering this weekend’s performance, though, is it safe to have the Wolves as underdogs for today’s game? From the looks of it, there’s still a whole lot of series left out west.
Knicks Say ‘Hold Up’ In Indiana
Staying on teams that were 2-0 down in their series and decided to ball out this weekend, how about those New York Knicks?

After being dragged to the ground by NBA news experts for their performance issues in the first two games of the series, the Knicks showed up at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers, and put on a clinic on why they are the best comeback playoff team this season.

With a 106-100 win and led by Karl-Anthony Towns who gave a rebounding masterclass, posting 15 rebounds alongside 24 points in 29 minutes, it seems as if New York, just like Stella, finally found their groove back.
With game four set for Tuesday, and the Knicks once again coming in as underdogs, could we be in for another thriller in Indy?
Hey, Aaron Rodgers Is Still Around
Do you guys remember Aaron Rodgers? Yes, the ayahuasca-loving, mouth-blabbering future Hall of Fame quarterback who went from being a bona fide Green Bay Packers legend to actually managing to set the New York Jets back even more (as if that’s humanly possible)?
Well, while he still hasn’t made up his mind on where he’ll be playing next season, if he does at all, Rodgers took the time this weekend to answer a few questions from NFL fans who thought the ball-slinger had something interesting to say.
Amongst some of the gems A-Rod spewed out, a couple of things stood out. First, when asked if he would consider playing for the New Orleans Saints, a team that could use a little veteran help in its QB room, Rodgers was quick to deny said option, giving a simple “NO…. NO” answer.

Q: “Would you ever consider playing for the Saints?”
Aaron: “NO…. NO.”
DAMN.

Afterwards, when asked if he would consider playing for the Chicago Bears, a team that lives off loathing the former Packers legend, Rodgers was also quick to say no to that option, but did leave the door open to playing for a team who’ll be facing the Bears this season.
A team that wears black and yellow, and has been waiting for him to finally make up his mind.
Aaron Rodgers was asked at an event this weekend whether he would ever consider playing for the Bears and, in turn, might have provided a hint of his plans for the 2025 season. (The Steelers do play in Chicago).pic.twitter.com/o5qozmrAfG

Yes, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now, I don’t know what’s going on through Rodgers’ mind right now. Maybe having played in 265 NFL games, combining regular season and playoffs has finally caught up to him and he’s not ready to commit to anything yet.
But come on, man, what more do you need to make up your mind? How about you first realize that even though you are one of the best to ever do it, you’re not the same player you were in your prime?
Tarik Skubal Pitches Masterclass Shutout
In some uplifting news, Tarik Skubal, starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers and one of this season’s AL Cy Young odds favorites, pitched what can be considered one of the best complete game shutouts in recent MLB history.
Tarik Skubal just threw as good of a game as you’re ever going to see. His start against Cleveland:
9 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 13 K
94 pitches, 72 strikes
Final pitch: 102.6 mph, the hardest of his career
26 swings and misses
First CG of his career

Tossing a two-hit, 13-strikeout, 94-pitch shutout, including 72 strikes, Skubal, last season’s Cy Young and pitching Triple Crown winner, managed to pitch what baseball experts call a “Maddux”.
What’s a “Maddux”? It’s a performance referring to all-time legend Greg Maddux, who was known for clinical efficiency and effectiveness, having pitched 13 complete game shutouts with less than 100 pitches.
And the most impressive feat in this whole ordeal? Skubal’s last pitch in this game was a 103 mph fastball to cap it all off.
103 TO FINISH IT. ARE YOU KIDDING?!@TarikSkubal pic.twitter.com/Ad787oOIex

Yes, 103 miles per hour strike.
Take a bow Tarik!
Lando Norris Takes Over Monaco
If you were to look up Lando Norris’ stats, don’t be surprised if you find “2025 Monaco F1 Grand Prix winner” in the list.
With one of the season’s best performances yet, McLaren’s driver Norris beat out Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and fellow team driver Oscar Piastri by an average of 3 seconds and some change to come out victorious in the streets of Monte Carlo.

As the season moves on to Barcelona for the Spanish GP, will Norris step up once again and take Piastri’s spot atop the F1 Drivers Championship lead?
One More Lap Around The Block
Closing out this weekend’s wrap-up, let’s talk soccer, especially everything that went down on the final day of the English Premier League season.
With Liverpool, EPL champions, Arsenal, runner-up to Liverpool, and Tottenham, this season’s UEFA Europa League title winners all having their tickets for next season’s Champions League Tournament stamped, three tickets were still up for grabs, with five teams bidding for them.

What would ensue is one of the craziest endings to an EPL season in recent times.
Landing the first ticket out of three was Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad, following a 2-0 win over Fulham. Chelsea scored the following ticket after beating Nottingham Forest 1-0, thus kicking them out of the race and from European club football in general next season.
In a strange turn of events, even after losing their respective final games of the season, Newcastle United was able to barely edge out Aston Villa and snag the last EPL-ridden UCL ticket this season. Following said results, Villa will be playing in the Europa League next season alongside Crystal Palace.

Lastly, over in Spain, one of Real Madrid’s biggest legends called it a career with the club, as Luka Modric played his final game donning the legendary “10” jersey for Spain’s historic club this Saturday.

Leaving the club as the player with most title wins in history, let me be the first to say, on behalf of all soccer fans around the world, Real Madrid fans or not, thank you Luka, you managed to be one of those players who turned soccer from a sport into an art.
Until next week, keep it classy peeps!
