What Would it Take for the New York Knicks to Win it All?

Well. There is a chance this entire article and subject could be null by the end of the day. Or, it could gather steam and the New York Knicks could go on a serious run. There are so many possibilities.

Where They Stand

Nobody wants to be down 3-1 in the playoffs. Nobody except for the 2020 Bubble Nuggets, at least. This is a tough position to be in, especially when most of your guys haven’t experienced deep playoff runs before. It won’t be easy.

Their star player who was also the league’s most improved has gone away, basically. Julius Randle has shot them out of several games, and he is why they’re down. If he doesn’t step up, Atlanta will win the series here and now.

Injury Concerns

The Knicks aren’t dealing with any significant injuries within the playoff rotation. But, Mitchell Robinson has remained out of the lineup, not playing a single second in this series. They are fortunate that Derrick Rose and Alec Burks healed up prior to the series beginning and are at 100%.

Unless Randle has an undisclosed injury, there isn’t an excuse for his play/ He put the team on his back all season and inspired the mecca’s fans to rally behind him after an abysmal first season. Let’s see if he can lead a turnaround.

Their Path to the Finals

With all the trash-talking Clint Capela is doing, you may think the series ended already. Nope. The Hawks should probably stay silent until it’s officially done, because anything can happen. The path to the finals is actually pretty simple for the Knicks.

“I don’t know if they’re physical, but they are trying to play physical,” Capela said, “I feel like if they were really physical, I think we’d have more problems than what we have.”

They need to win three straight against the Hawks. If they can finesse that one, the likely next opponent is Philly. Joel Embiid got hurt in game 4 against the Wizards, and will now miss game 5, a very disturbing sign. If they found a way to run through a team with a less-than-100% Embiid, Brooklyn or Milwaukee would await them.

NY’s first win of the year was against the Bucks. They had some battles with BK. That would be very tough, but it is a world where anything can happen.

Do Their Odds Reflect the Situation Accurately?

The Knicks are a +35000 online sportsbook underdog to reach the NBA Finals as of the last update. Being down like this against a team that has mostly had your number in the series does stack up with those tough betting online odds. It won’t get easier, but they have to dig deep.

Rose has been the team’s best player, and has made a lot of magic throughout the series. Folks that just became hoop fans probably have no idea this is his second stint in NY and have no clue what he is truly capable of. It’s his third tenure with Tom Thibodeau.

Thibs has done a great coaching job, but he may have squeezed the last of the competitive juice out of his team. If they can survive game 5, the pressure will shift to Atlanta, and things will get interesting.
