Who Will Hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy?
Eastern Conference Dominates Markets
The sportsbook has the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics at the top of betting markets to win the NBA Finals odds.
The Eastern Conference teams have been dominating for most of the season. Our NBA expert picks have one of these teams winning the trophy.
Celtics Backing Up
The Celtics have been at the top of our NBA picks since day one, and we don’t see any reason to jump off their backs.
Despite finishing behind the Bucks in the Eastern Conference standings, they had some injury concerns late in the season. We’re not worried by those injuries as the playoffs are near, so bettors should expect a healthy Celtics team.
They have the experience of having played in the NBA Finals last year when losing to the Golden State Warriors. They had a chance to win that series, and although coming up short, we believe that has made them stronger.
They appear more driven, so the online gambling odds of +325 are generous.
Former Celtics Rajon Rondo disagreed with a statement made that favored Milwaukee to win.
“I gotta disagree,” Rondo said. “It’s called Titletown. Beantown. They expect to win (in Boston). It’s been a very long time since they’ve hoisted that trophy. So, going back to the Finals (like) last year, getting it done, that’s not gonna work.
“We don’t hang Eastern Conference banners in Boston.”
They have the pieces to make another title run, and although getting past the Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals won’t be easy, should they make it there, the likes of Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, and Jaylen Brown can get it done.
Suns Picked in West
Many NBA predictions have the Phoenix Suns being the best team in the Western Conference, which isn’t surprising.
Despite continuing injury problems with Kevin Durant, they should be tough to beat because of that addition. Durant is good enough to change the fortunes of a team, so the Suns could hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy in a couple of months.
Sport betting markets have the Suns at +425. Had Durant not made his way to Phoenix, they would have been around +800 to win the title with the likes of Chris Paul and Devin Booker leading the way.
However, Durant has only one title, which came with the already impressive Golden State Warriors. Paul and Booker have no titles, so that’s playing against the Suns.
Surprisingly, despite a lot of pre-season betting action, the Los Angeles Clippers are the big drifters with news about Paul George’s injury. They are now +4000 underdogs, which is one of the biggest betting drifts in recent history.
Nuggets Not Respected
The Denver Nuggets aren’t being given much respect at the sportsbook. They are paying +1000 to win the NBA title, which is an excellent price for the leading team in the West.
With no injury concerns to speak of, and Nikola Jokic playing at an MVP level, there is no reason why the Nuggets can’t win.
Michael Porter Jr and Jamal Murray are playing at their best, so bettors should entertain their odds.
They looked good when beating the Bucks a couple of weeks ago, and although they have struggled to win in the playoffs, they won’t get a better opportunity to prevail in the West.
“It’s better to win games, but our goal is to do something in a play-offs,” Jokic said.
We couldn’t agree more, so include the Nuggets in your NBA playoff selections.
