2025 NBA MVP Predictions and Picks: Giannis a Great Value Bet

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has fully earned his spot as a favorite to win the NBA regular-season MVP award this season, but he is certainly not a value online bet.

Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging a league-best 32.5 points while shooting 52.3 percent from the field for the Western Conference-leading Thunder. He is currently at -550 to win his first MVP, which might only work in an NBA parlay bet.

Three-time winner Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is still in the running for another trophy (+325 odds), but voters will probably want a change at the top.

Perhaps the best sports bet for value is Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (+8000) if health plays a part and the Bucks make a big run in the second half.

Top Betting Picks for 2025 NBA MVP

1. Gilgeous-Alexander Safest Bet (-550)

While the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers have been balanced on offense this season, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 11.5 points more than anyone on his team, per Oklahoma City Thunder stats.

The former Kentucky standout is on his way to shooting 50 percent from the field for the third straight season and fourth in the past five. He also averages 6.1 assists and almost two steals per contest.

A straight up wager on Gilgeous-Alexander is probably not worth it. You can use it as an anchor in a parlay where you take a few chances. Or you can watch to see if his odds improve and bet the Thunder to win the championship (+225) in NBA futures odds.

2. Bet Greek Freak For Big Value (+8000)

The Bucks have had a strange season. You could even call it underachieving at 29-24.

The tools seem to be there for better in the second half with the addition of Kyle Kuzma at the trade dealing and an impressive road win at Minnesota on Wednesday.

Antetokounmpo is averaging a double-double (31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds) to go along with almost six assists per contest, per NBA betting trends. However, he was sidelined with a calf injury the last four games and missed All-Star weekend.

A small bet on his health improving and a second-half Milwaukee run, along with a slight Gilgeous-Alexander dip, could fill your wallet. But you are probably going to want to read up on NBA news to see how Antetokounmpo’s injury is progressing.

The 2-3 weeks off could be good for him. The Greek Freak is certainly worth a small bet to win his third MVP.

3. Tatum, Wembanyama Longshot Bets (+20000)

If you want to take a big chance with your NBA predictions, look at Boston’s Jayson Tatum and San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama.

Tatum shares the burden with the reigning NBA champion Celtics, but he is the top dog and could light it up in the second half. If Boston catches Cleveland for first place in the East and Tatum averages 30 points the rest of the season, he becomes a candidate.

Wembanyama is slowly becoming a superstar . If he gets the San Antonio Spurs into the playoffs for the first time since 2019 with a big second half, the 7-foot-4 NBA blocks leader could have an outside chance. The Spurs (23-29) are 3 ½ games out.

You certainly will get paid if one of those NBA player prop bets cashes.
