Back Hawks to Cover Spread vs Cavaliers

Eastern Conference teams will battle for the first time this season when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. Despite the Hawks dropping three of their last five and Cleveland winning three of its last five, both teams are in similar positions. The Cavs are just a half-game ahead of Atlanta in the conference standings at eighth and ninth, respectively. Both teams will look to rise in the standings, but NBA betting lines favor Cleveland at home.

Hawks Go Cold

Atlanta saw its two-game win streak come to an end after its usually strong offense struggled to get going against Boston.

After averaging 136 points and a 51.7% field-goal percentage in their prior three games, the Hawks hit a roadblock against a top-five Celtics defense, scoring just 103 points on 40.9% shooting.

Atlanta had three players reach double figures, led by Trae Young, who scored 33 points and has been averaging 26.5 points. However, with second-leading scorer Dejounte Murray held to six points on 2-of-13 shooting, it wasn’t able to overcome Boston.

The Hawks are second in the NBA with an average of 123.6 points a game, and they should be a solid NBA bet to get their offense back on track against a less-dominating Cavaliers defense.

Cavs Bounce Back

Cleveland put an end to a two-game losing skid after it picked up a win against Toronto behind a stronger game defensively.

Despite the win, the Cavaliers’ offense still had issues getting going. The Cavs averaged 111.2 points and a 48.9% field-goal percentage in their last five games, including 102 points on 46.4% shooting in their win over the Raptors.

Darius Garland and Max Strus scored 24 and 20 points, respectively, to carry Cleveland over Toronto, but leading scorer Donovan Mitchell, who averages 27 points, was relatively quiet in the win, scoring just 10 points after going 4 of 17 overall and 0 of 5 from three.

The Cavaliers will hope to get more out of their offense against a leaky Atlanta defense, but bettors may still want to see how they start before looking at some NBA live betting odds.

Hawks vs Cavaliers Best Bet

A pair of differing offenses will match up when the Hawks visit the Cavaliers on Tuesday. However, despite the sportsbook favoring Cleveland at home, Atlanta should still keep it close and cover the spread from NBA lines.

Although the Hawks’ offense stumbled a bit in their last game, it was also against the fourth-best defense in the NBA. They should have an easier time scoring against the Cavaliers, who have had defensive struggles lately, giving up 117.3 points a game in their last three games.

Cleveland’s offense has also had issues getting hot, and though Atlanta’s defense isn’t the strongest, even if the Cavs score more, it shouldn’t be enough to cover the spread.
