Best NBA Player Prop Bets: Beal, VanVleet Top Spots 03/21/2024

Thursday provides another excellent seven-game slate. I’m looking to cash in on these NBA bets for tonight. Before I get into that, here’s what you might have missed after the NBA provided another entertaining night on Wednesday.

Wednesday NBA Recap

The Miami Heat got a much-needed win over the Cleveland Cavaliers thanks to Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier’s fourth-quarter heroics. The Celtics nearly spoiled an early lead but managed to hold on and defeat the Bucks. Boston has yet to lose to an Eastern Conference opponent at home, and Boston has a massive 11-game lead over the second-seeded Bucks in the battle for home-court advantage come NBA playoffs time. The Eastern Conference standings got a slight shakeup.

Out West, it was another sweep for the favorites. The Kings cruised past the Raptors behind another triple-double from Sabonis. The Thunder defeated the Jazz for the third time this season, regaining their position at the top of the standings. The Clippers, Suns, and Warriors also won, keeping pace with the playoff race.

On Thursday, we have a handful of elite head-to-heads, highlighted by the Denver Nuggets at home against the New York Knicks. The Knickerbockers won the first matchup earlier this season, 122-84. If New York upsets the Nuggets on the road, this game’s outcome could significantly affect the NBA futures odds.

There are several games worth watching and plenty of player props to select from for Thursday. There are plenty of NBA bets online to sift through, but I’ve done the research, so you don’t have to. Let’s get to the best NBA bets for tonight.

Best NBA Player Props Today

1. Rockets PG Fred VanVleet Over 8½ Assists (-112)

The Houston Rockets are riding a six-game win streak when they return home to battle the Chicago Bulls. I’m going back to the well with what worked for us on Tuesday. Houston is without starting center Alperen Sengun, who will likely miss the rest of the season. Sengun was leading Houston in usage, so some other guys have had to step up in his absence.

Veteran point guard Fred VanVleet is one of those guys stepping up. FVV has 11, 16, 9, and 7 assists in the four games since Sengun went down. The Bulls give up the fifth-most assists per game in the NBA, and FVV averages 14.1 potential assists during the season. That number has increased to 17.3 potential in the four games without Sengun. I’m firing up FVV again with confidence!

2. Bucks PF Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 30½ Points (-114)

The Milwaukee Bucks are coming off a hard-fought loss on the road in Boston and are playing on the second night of a back-to-back. I’m expecting them to bounce back nicely against the Brooklyn Nets. Giannis didn’t travel with the team to Boston, but he should be back in the lineup tonight. Khris Middleton will likely be out as part of his injury management on a back-to-back, but Giannis should return for this game on NBATV.

The Nets lack the size and strength to defend the Greek Freak. Nic Claxton is questionable, but if he sits, Giannis will have a huge night. He scored 36 and 32 points in the two previous meetings this season, and he’s gone over this line in eight of his last 10 matchups with Brooklyn. He’s over this line in four of six games in March.

3. Suns SG Bradley Beal Over 5½ Assists (+118)

We’re heading back to the desert tonight. The Phoenix Suns host the Atlanta Hawks on the second night of a back-to-back. I don’t expect Phoenix to rest any of its starters because it is fighting to get out of the Play-In and can’t afford to lose any winnable games like this one. Bradley Beal is still trying to find his niche with his new team, as he’s taking a backseat as a scorer. He’s certainly accepted his role as a distributor.

Beal has four straight games with seven assists, and he’s over this line in seven of 10 games since the All-Star break. Beal is over this line in 18 of 33 healthy games with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, including 11 of his last 13! With Jalen Johnson out for the Hawks, I expect Durant to have the matchup for the Suns to exploit. The Hawks are allowing the third-most assists per game, and Beal is averaging 10.1 potential assists in March. In the previous meeting in Atlanta back in February, Beal finished with 10 assists. Bank on Beal, and don’t sweat the juice.

4. Suns C Jusuf Nurkic Over 12½ Rebounds (-112)

We’re staying in the desert with our final NBA bet online. I expected the Suns to bounce back and roll the Sixers last night, and that is just what they did! Jusuf Nurkic came through for us, and I’m going right back to him tonight. He has exceeded this line in three of his last four games, including a 21- and 22-rebound game. Since the All-Star break, he has been over this line in eight of thirteen games, including a franchise-record 31-rebound performance at home against the Thunder.

In the previous meeting with Atlanta, he pulled down 9 rebounds in just 23 minutes, but the Hawks had a full squad. The Hawks allow the sixth-most rebounds per game to opposing centers. Nurkic averages 19.2 rebound chances per game, tied for the fourth-most in the NBA. He is over this line in three straight games on the second night of a back-to-back. The Hawks recently gave up 15 rebounds to Anthony Davis, 19 to Deandre Ayton, and 11 to John Collins. Count on Big Nurk again tonight!
