It took the quietest Giannis night you can imagine and a late scratch for another star to torpedo some of our picks on Tuesday, but one came to fruition on a pretty fun night in the NBA. The league is loaded up again on Wednesday, including a bunch of teams playing the second half of back-to-backs. That can always mess with lineup decisions so make sure to check the NBA news pages before deciding on a bet.
3 Best NBA Player Props Tonight
1. Josh Giddey Over 5.5 Assists
If you’re a Knicks fan, you might have some knowledge of this, but Josh Giddey has owned Madison Square Garden. He’s made three career trips to the Mecca of Basketball and has come out of each of them with a triple-double.
Giddey’s averages in those three contests are 22.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 12.0 assists (exactly 12 in each game). His OKC Thunder won all three of those games, with Giddey handing out the assist in a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander game-winner last March and then calling MSG “a fun place to play.”
The dynamic Aussie is on a new team and everything is different now, but maybe he can conjure up something when he steps into that arena for the Bulls on Wednesday. We’ll target his assist total, as he’s averaging 7.0 and 8.0 over his last six games as he enters a place where he averages 12.0.
BetUS Sportsbook puts his over/under in that category at 5.5, a figure he’s gone over in eight of 11 games this season.

2. DeMar DeRozan Under 23.5 Points
This one could be a razor-thin, down-to-the-wire kind of NBA player prop bet, but sometimes those are the most exciting to make. DeMar DeRozan has been spectacular early in his Kings career with over 20 points in all but one game, a strong trend he carries into a matchup with the Suns.
As we all know, DeRozan is Mr. Mid-Range, operating in that area better than anyone in the game. He leads the NBA in made baskets in that zone by a pretty hefty margin while shooting 50%.
The Suns are just a so-so defensive bunch by most metrics but they seem to defend that zone pretty well, holding opponents to a 34.8% mark in mid-range opportunities. If corner 3’s are your thing, then you’d love to play Phoenix (opponents shoot a league-high 46%), but DeRozan doesn’t take those all that often.
The future Hall of Famer had 34 points against Phoenix a few days ago but got a big chunk of it in a monster finish. He had only 10 points through three quarters of that one before going off in the fourth and then adding eight points in an overtime takeover with De’Aaron Fox.
DeMar DeRozan and De’Aaron Fox combined for 36 points in the 4th quarter + OT to beat the Suns last night.
Beautiful blend of mid-range shot making.
Both are in the top 10 in clutch points scored so far (DeRozan is #2)

That’s all well and good, but don’t forget the early struggles DeRozan had in that game, which came on the heels of a 13-point effort vs the Clippers. This brings me to my second NBA pick today:
Bet on DeMar DeRozan Under 23.5 Points (-110)
3. Chris Paul Over 9.5 Points
For some of the same reasons we isolated DeRozan for an under we’re looking at Chris Paul for an over.
The San Antonio point guard gets to take on the defensively inept Washington Wizards on Wednesday. He’s not a guy who lights up the scoreboard anymore but there could be an opportunity here.
Paul, like DeRozan but in much less volume, excels mostly in those mid-range zones. He’s ninth in the NBA in made shots between 15-19 feet, hitting on 64.3% of his attempts there. The Wizards allow opponents to make 56.5% of their attempts in that area, the highest mark in the league.
Paul has gotten into double digits in seven of his last nine games. One of the ones where he didn’t was an abberational 0-for-6 effort vs Utah. Chuck that one in the trash bin and expect him to find some soft spots vs. Washington.
Bet on Chris Paul Over 9.5 Points (-113)

Question of the Day
Is there a good game market bet online to be had?
The Celtics are finishing a back-to-back in Brooklyn against a more rested Nets team that’s getting nine points at home. The Nets are 9-2 against the spread and should have the energy to keep this one close.
