A couple of rebounds short in one pick, a few points shy in another and Thursday’s picks just fell flat. That happens, and we’re okay getting a clunker out of the way early in 2025. We love our NBA player prop bets on Friday and have a strong feeling these will get you into the year’s first weekend on a winning note.

3 Best NBA Player Props to Bet Today

1. Jordan Poole Over 22.5 Points, Over 3.5 3-Pointers (+271)

We start off with a fun NBA parlay bet involving a guy who loves to fire away against a team that struggles to stop guys who love to fire away. Poole is averaging 27.8 points over his last five games while making an average of 5.8 3-pointers in that stretch, and he was cooking against Chicago the other night.

New Orleans allows opponents to hit 14.4 triples per game, more than all but four teams. Players hit at a 37.4% rate from the arc against the Pelicans, higher than all but five teams. Over the last eight games those numbers are even higher: 15.0 made 3’s per game at a 39.3% clip.

If you want to choose just one of these overs that’s fine but both are riding some pretty solid trends. This is a matchup of the worst teams in both conferences and it just feels like one of those wild games where nothing makes sense and loads of guys try to put up big numbers. Poole will find some wide open looks here and there.

At +271 NBA odds, it’s hard to pass this one up.

2. Shai Gilgeous Alexander Under 30.5 Points (-110)

If you made a resolution to take more risks in 2025, then this is the pick for you. Here we’re taking the under on total points for the guy who has scored more than anyone in the NBA this season while playing for a team that doesn’t lose. There’s some logic to it all, however, so follow along.

To begin with, SGA and his OKC Thunder are finishing up a back-to-back, so there’s always the chance of some fatigue. Gilgeous-Alexander has performed pretty well in these situations this season (32.2 PPG), but his shooting numbers are down compared to games played with some rest. Also, he’s traditionally had some lower scoring figures when on no rest, so that 32.2 number will go down as the season progresses.

Also, this is the Knicks, who have the ability to lock you up from time to time. They especially do well defending some of those mid-range areas where SGA can thrive. He’s been relatively tamed by the likes of OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges in the past and was held to 19 points on 7-for-16 shooting in the last matchup with New York.

It might be agonizing rooting for a guy that can put up 40 with regularity to fall short of 30. Break out those “Defense! Defense!” chants and you’ll have fun with this NBA expert pick.

3. Austin Reaves Over 18.5 Points (-117)

The Lakers are another team finishing up a back-to-back. They got 38 points from LeBron James in a win over Portland on Thursday while Anthony Davis sat with a sore ankle. You need to pay attention to the NBA news updates on these two as it’s hard to tell who will play in the second half of the back-to-back.

As for Reaves, he almost never sits, and he’s been playing some great ball lately. The third-year guard has at least 10 assists in each of his last four games and scored at least 26 points in three of them before sinking to 15 vs the Blazers.

With Davis uncertain and LeBron likely needing to pull off the gas just a bit, Reaves will be leaned on for some points. He plays pretty well in games with good pace and the Hawks always have some helter-skelter to them, giving up a league-high 40.7 3-point attempts per game. Reaves’s 35.5% mark from the arc is not where he would like it to be but Atlanta will give him plenty of opportunities to jack ‘em up.

Question Of The Day

Is there a good bet online to make on a game outcome Friday?

Take a long look at the Rockets, who are 5-1 against the spread when playing with a rest advantage and get to take on the Celtics who are finishing up a back-to-back. Boston is just 2-5 against the spread when playing with a rest disadvantage.
