The Pelicans also have a former top draft pick in Zion Williamson, who will look to dominate the paint on Friday.
Keep on Rebuilding
We’re a little sick of teams going through a “rebuilding” phase, much like the Spurs.
There aren’t enough talented players on the Spurs roster to be competitive in the NBA, and although Victor Wembanyama is excellent, he’s the lone player.
Rebuilding has turned players off wanting to go to San Antonio, and its 3-15 record won’t help. The Spurs are 7-11 against the spread at the sportsbook, so they’re not keeping games close either.
We might be sounding too harsh on the young team, but they’re riding a lengthy losing streak, and there doesn’t appear to be any way out.
Playing the Pelicans on the road won’t help their chances, and although their last three losses were somewhat competitive, they never looked like winning.
Sport betting lines have them as a colossal underdog, which isn’t surprising given their form. There is no respect at the sportsbook and rightfully so.
Pelicans Grooving at Home
The Pelicans play much better at home, where they are 7-4 overall and ATS.
They scored a solid 124-114 win over a weakened Philadelphia 76ers outfit, which was helped by 33 points from Williamson.
“He was great. He attacked the basket,” Pelicans coach Willie Green told the media. “Getting to the paint was something we were big on.”
Williamson could have a field day against the Spurs, who have no real rim protection. Wembanyama is too skinny to defend the wide-bodied Williamson, so expect him to score big again.
The win over Philadelphia was a good bounce-back effort following consecutive losses to Utah. They didn’t look good in those losses, but they’re on the straight and narrow at Smoothie King Center.
Our NBA odds prediction is that money comes for the Pelicans. They are usually a public betting team, so they should be well-supported on game night.

Spurs vs Pelicans Game Prediction
Predicted Score: New Orleans Pelicans 119, San Antonio Spurs 104
Worth Betting the Moneyline?
The moneyline odds for the Pelicans are too short to back as a single wager. However, include them in parlays to boost NBA payouts.
Worth Betting ATS?
Betting online markets have the line at -12½, which is sizable. However, we’re not touching the Spurs with a 10-foot pole.
Despite showing signs of life recently, the Spurs just don’t know how to win games, and that could result in a blowout loss to the Pels.
NBA Pick: New Orleans Pelicans -12½
Worth Betting on the Totals?
Take under 236 points. We have no fears about the Pelicans scoring, but the Spurs could struggle to shoot over the big Pelicans defenders.
That should be enough to see the under cash as the Pelicans have held opponents to totals of 106, 105 and 114 points over the last week.
NBA Pick: Spurs, Pelicans Under 236
Questions Of The Day
Which Spurs player will have the biggest impact against the Pelicans?
Victor Wembanyama is the most influential player on the Spurs team, so look for him to have a big impact.
Can the Spurs' lineup overcome the Pelicans' home court advantage?
The Spurs have only two away wins, so we can’t see them overcoming the Pelicans’ home court advantage.
