Bet Suns to Extend Streak vs Raptors

Right now, one of the hottest teams in the NBA is the Phoenix Suns, who have won seven straight games overall and four in a row on the road. The Suns wrap up a three-game road trip against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. While the Raptors will be playing on a back-to-back, they have a chance in NBA game odds today to derail the Suns.

In their last game, the Suns beat the New York Knicks 116-113, needing a Devin Booker 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds to keep the winning streak alive. For the Raptors, they faced the Brooklyn Nets in their final In-Season Tournament game, losing 115-103.

Suns Rolling Without a Healthy Roster

Going into the season, NBA predictions had no idea what to make of the Suns. The roster is created around three elite scorers, who have yet to be on the court at the same time due to injuries.

However, even with Kevin Durant missing the last two games and looming as a game-time decision to face the Raptors, and Bradley Beal only appearing in three games, the Suns are playing well. They are near the top in the Western Conference standings following this winning streak, with a large part of the on-court success going to Booker.

Along with hitting a clutch three to beat the Knicks, Booker put on an impressive display with 28 points, 11 assists and five rebounds while being double-teamed the entire game. That is only one special game this season for Booker, who he is averaging 29.4 points, 8.9 assists and 5.4 rebounds.

It is too early to open up the MVP conversation around Booker, but he should be an option for best NBA player props on Nov. 29. Even if Durant, who is averaging 31.4 points, does make his return from injury, Booker is having too hot of a run to be slowed down.

Defense Needs to be at the Forefront for the Raptors

This season was already going to be an interesting one for the Raptors, given all the NBA news surrounding the team with trade rumors and a new head coach in Darko Rajakovic. That has led to the team being very inconsistent from game to game.

The Raptors rely heavily on their defense, allowing the 12th-fewest points per game (112.4) and having the 10th-best defensive rating (112.1). The roster is built around that, with the starting unit of Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes, Dennis Schröder and Jakob Poeltl all being solid defenders, creating a versatile switchable defense.

That defense helps create turnovers, with the Raptors forcing 14.6 per game, the 12th-most in the league. That then results in a quick-transition offense, with the Raptors scoring the fourth-most points in translation per game at 23.7. If Toronto can not create transition opportunities, it doesn’t have a chance in NBA spreads.

However, even with that, the loss to the Nets showed that this scheme does not always work for the Raptors. They forced 15 turnovers but only had 12 fastbreak points. Part of that is due to a poor shooting night by Toronto, going 38.6% from the field.

Suns vs Raptors Betting Lines

Suns vs Raptors Best Bet

The Suns turned the ball over a fair share at 15.3 per game, which could make things interesting for NBA picks. However, with the level that the Suns are playing at right now, especially Booker, it is hard not to back them. It only gets worse for the Raptors if Durant is healthy.

NBA Best Bet: Phoenix Suns -3 -110
