Bulls Have Terrible Luck in Philly

This game will test how much we should rely on “historical” stats between teams in the NBA.

The Chicago Bulls are a staggering 0-12 against the Sixers in recent seasons. Chicago hasn’t beaten Philly at home since 2017 and is already working with a rough road record of 7-12 this season.

Meanwhile, the Sixers might be the best home team in basketball.

The Bulls are still trying to get healthy and haven’t fielded a full team once this season. Guard Lonzo Ball remains out and may not appear at all this season. Alex Caruso and Javonte Green are both questionable for Friday with lower leg issues.

However, despite their issues in the win/loss column when playing on the road, their record against the spread in those games isn’t bad. Chicago is 3-1 ATS in their previous four away games after a rough summer on the road.

76ers Sans Embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers will have to switch up their game plan on Friday when they take the court without Joel Embiid. The star center and MVP candidate will be sidelined with a sore foot.

But, the Sixers beat the Pacers on Wednesday without their stud center with their 11th win in a row at home, an impressive streak that will be put to the test here.

The 76ers are also killing it at home in regards to covering spreads, with an 8-2 ATS record in their previous ten home games. The Sixers are so good at home that they are the third most profitable team on the spread with +8.40 units and a 15-6 ATS record. Only the Grizzlies and Warriors have been better for bettors.

While the injury to Embiid hurts, he is the only member of this team on the injury report.

Bulls vs 76ers Head-to-Head

Chicago and Philly may be conference rivals, but you’d never know it by looking at their head-to-head record. The 76ers are on a 12-0 winning streak against the Bulls dating back to 2019. Chicago hasn’t won in Philly since 2017.

The Sixers are also on an 8-0 ATS winning streak.

Bulls vs 76ers Picks & Prediction

Historical trends are not to be ignored, but we can’t lean on them too much in cases like this. The issue here is that the Bulls’ losing streak extends back further than most guys have been on these teams.

With Embiid out, the Sixers will struggle against Nikola Vucevic, a legit 7-footer, without a true center. PJ Tucker is 6-foot-5 and will be the Sixers’ starter under the rim tonight. Bet on Vucevic to go off and lead the Bulls to an ATS win.

Chicago is listed at +160 in our Vegas NBA lines. If you wager $100 on the Bulls, you can win $260. Philadelphia is -185, offering a chance to win $154 on a $100 wager.

The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Chicago a 38.46% chance to win, with the 76ers at 64.91%.
